the date month year has to be set every time the battery's are changed. can this be fixed and how.vic

Yes it can be fixed but is a little difficult as the internal battery for the memory usually is a surfacemount ( solder type) battery which is soldered to the board.
You need a service manual for this camera to know what type of battery to replace. If you google service manuals for digital cameras you may find a down loadable manual for a small price.
