Well it takes a good Y and Z to make a good picture.

Slow turn-on sounds like power supply problem to me, although I've worked more on LCD sets than plasma, so I could be wrong.

Here's an ebay link that tells how to test your Z, and coincidentally has a Z board for sale.

My LG 21 int ch flat screen takes time to show pictures, the red button appears on and sound will be heard but their will be no pictures, they appear after some time please help me.

hi,

You have to check the back light of your lcd TV. All lcd screen have a back light to illuminate the pixels. you can conform is the back light is faulty or not by watching the lcd screen nearby. Watch can you see any image (negative image) on the screen. you have to look very closely. if you see any image on the screen then the back light or the back light inverter is faulty.

first of all check all the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply and back light inverter board. If available then replace these capacitors first.

You have to check the back light inverter board. Normally in lcd monitors you can see three circuit boards. power supply, mother board, and the inverter board. If available then try to replace the inverter board. There are high voltage transformers in this board. There is a chance for its winding get short. You will not get the transformer in open market. Try for the inverter board .

My Sony Trinitron 36'' model#: kv32v26 is taking a long time to show picture when turned on. The sound comes on and the red light blinks for about 3-5 min. before the picture turns on. And when i switch to...

Hi Matt.
I`ve been repairing sony tv`s for a long time now and i can tell you that what you described is sure signs of a weak picture tube.
And the price of a new picture tube makes it prohibitive to replace it. You could open the set and adjust the screen control on the high voltage transformer but it won`t last long. If you decide to do that , look for a transformer with a long and thick red wire that connects to the back of the picture tube , That is the flyback transformer and there will be two controls on it, you want to adjust the bottom control that is the screen control(the upper one is the focus).
Turn your tv on and slowly turn the screen control up until the picture shows up at a reasonable brightness level, if yout turn it to high or you may get retrace lines in the picture.
That may strech the life of your set for a couple of months .
Hope this will help. Merry Christmas

Words are doubled red borders???

Just to clarify, it sounds like what you are saying is that the image appears to duplicate in either red or blue along the edges of the image (especially white lettering and probably increasing along the boarder of the TV). This is resolved by converging your TV. Convergence will drift normally on large screen projection TV's over time or through moving them. The Hitachi 57f500a has a feature called "Magic Focus" (pg 36 in your manual) which will auto converge the image. If the auto converge feature doesn't work, on page 37 in your manual, it explains how to converge manually. If you do not have the manual, I have the image of the pages below. If for some reason this doesn't work, please provide additional info and detailed prior to rating the help.

Sound but no picture

It is most likely the inverter, here is a trick to check it. Turn the tv on a channel where you have audio(sound)
Take a flashlight or a lamp with a bare buld and shine it on the screen. Look very closely at the screen, if you see a video image your inverter is bad.
Let me know and I can instruct you on replacement.
