Factory settings My convergence went out. I ordered a service manual and can't get the settings back to the initial factory settings. How do I reset the changes I have made to start from scratch?

Re: factory settings

I have heard of a reset in the factory 2 position of the service menu. Click the button behind the little hole in the front panel a second time and it goes into 2nd service mode.

I have never used that mode, I only use the first sm, but have heard that you can reset your conv points that way. You'll still have a lot of work to do afterwards, of course.

Once the STK ICs have been changed out/replaced when defective, the conv should still be roughly where it was before and only need trimming. Only once has a massive shift happened when I have done this, which needed massive corrections. So it does happen, but only very rarely.

I offer phone consultation, if you wish, to get it really good in there.

How to reset factory defaults

I will presume you have the model listed here and have the Mitsubishi remote in working condition.

These sets have 3 hidden menus: Adjustment (stay out of that one), Convergence, and the OPTION MENU.

The option menu is the one you would want--it requires that you turn set on--enter a 4 digit number that is model specific.

In the option menu you can do a HARD reset which puts everything except convergence back to factory (that is stored in another area).

The reset puts all settings back to factory--set will come on once done on channel 3 in air band etc.

Let me know model number here is or is not correct and I will give you a link to the service manual with page number to look at---explains how to do the reset. Not a bad idea to save that manual as it contains all kinds of good info on this set.

Multipoint blue convergence cannot be adjusted

Sound like you need to replace the STK's and any blown pico's on convergence board.

How to reset eeprom(service menu settings)

This is the reason I am careful about walking people into the tech menu on sets--one wrong move and poof!

If you by a miracle find the full service manual it would have the information needed (if set has this) for a hard reset---other wise you would have to try to with the manual reset every setting to factory one at a time...........

With power on, press Mute-1-8-3. That will get you into convergence mode. 1 sets factory default convergence. Avoid pressing 2 - it resets everything. 3 restores the last saved settings, 4 switches among fine adjust, line adjust and grid move. 7,8,9 - select R,G,B. The three keys below those turn RBG on/off.

Self-focus to save the settings. S-Mode to exit.

It can be a REAL headache, but take your time, and you'll get it done.

As an after thought....if you have a need to manually adjust the convergence, you probably have something wrong - unless you've just replaced parts and are doing the initial convergence.

Make sure your yoke plugs are clean and no cold solder joints around them. Let me know? Do you have a scope?
