Question about Maytag SkyBox MBV1976A Beverage Dispenser

Skybox cools but nothing else works, no LED lights, no dispensing

I picked up a used Skybox that the previous owner had tried to fix in a stupid way. The flapper sensor was bad, and he cut the wire and shorted all three of them together. This appears to have caused more damage.

Currently the only thing that works is the cooling and the fluorescent lights, none of the LED lights do anything and it will not dispense. I replaced the flapper door sensor with the right part, but it made no difference. There is no activity at all no matter what buttons I press. The "out of soda" indications do not work.

Any ideas on what to replace next? The circuit inside the door? The main board? Could it be worse than that?

A huge THANK YOU for the previous information posted here. You got me to where I understand the basics of the machine and was able to get the flapper sensor replaced easily.

The transformer was the problem. I missed the first rule of troubleshooting: Is there freakin' power? Sheesh. The transformer has 120v in but 0v out. I plugged a handy 12v power supply into the power input, and I'm dispensing soda. I'll go see if the local Rat Shack has a 12v transformer.

Thank you both, hotuna had exactly the right answer and watugot gave me the link to the service manuals which I'd been unable to find. BTW, the service manual site doesn't work in Firefox, but does work in Safari.

Make sure you have all the disable switches up and the door circuit connector firmly in the main board.
You can find a service manual at servicematters.com
Click on maytag historical data and let it load on your computer. Enter your model number and you can veiw the manuals and service bulletins in pdf. It's all free. There is a troubleshooting section for the door circuit in the manual.
Thanks/Mike

If none of the LEDs are working, sounds like the transformer has went bad. First look at the board for a fuse to see if its blown, if so replace, see what happens next. To check and change the transformer you need a volt/ohm meter. If you do, and are feeling ambitious, I'll need some info off the schematic or the transformer itself, and I will walk you through it.
