No OS Support. "Undetermined dirve setup".just bought the card a few hours ago and it won't install.Where can I go to get this issue resolved?

  • Anonymous Jan 03, 2008

I also just bought a Dynex 5.1 sound card and got the same message "Undetermine Card" and then "OS not support." The box and instructions says it is compatible with Windows XP and that is what I have.

I managed to somehow manually get the card installed in safe mode, but now my computer won't boot up so I have to restore. The original sound card (onboard) that came with this computer is a C-Media A97 and stopped working for some reason. I can't get it to uninstall, it just keeps coming back. Might be part of the problem, but I'm going crazy here....have been without sound for over 2 months now.

yeah first question i asked the guys at best buy with this in hand was.... is this vista compatible? They said yes, we installed lots of those lately. huh. right. idiots. now i learned my lesson to do my homework on the card im interested in before buying it. and not trusting someone thats just trying to get me out of his hair. the only reason i stepped into that overpriced whole is because i got a gift card to the place.

The card will not work with your operating system. It is incapatable. I would take it back and get a more recognized name like Creative.

Why computer "O.S. not support".

Need to know what Operating System you are using (ie Windows 7, Linux etc)

. . because it is possible that the drivers for that hardware simply do not exist OR, you have the wrong drivers installed.

Sound card problem

Hi Miong u,
Untill you install the sound drivers, your computer won`t recognise your sound card.

Go HERE (http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=828&OSFullName=Windows*+2000&lang=eng&strOSs=19&submit=Go%21) and download, and install your audio drivers.

You can download the driver from intel website depending on the O.S
Might I also suggest you download your chipset drivers as well.

Thanks for using Fixya.
Do rate the solution as "Fixya" if 100% satisfied.

Sound card drivers can not installed

Your card isn't supported by Creative anymore, it is too old. As such, you would have better results by using a newer card. But the drivers are located here - http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&subCatID=207&prodID=4851&prodName=Vibra%20128&subCatName=Others&CatName=Sound+Blaster

Card reader installation!

The device wont be recognized by your computer until you insert a card. Plug a card into the reader, then plug the reader into the computer. You should hear a confirmation tone (if the card is formatted) and it should appear in my computer. No drivers or software are required as it uses a MSD (Mass Storage Device) interface.

Firewire Not Detected

This is quite an old firewire card model and according to the model number you have posted the chip on this card supports only upto windows 2000 or before, so if you are trying to run it on XP, there are no inbuilt driver support, so i think maybe you need to purchase a newer firewire card. There are are no downloadable drivers for this card because cards of this type do not require drivers to be installed as they are built into windows, but in this case not XP
