Re: error on screen

Check the product with a different make of flash drve. Yours may be drawing too much current.

Check that none of the four connector pins in the USB socket are bent or touching another pin or the surround.

Hi there! I was using my hts3357 for 2 years with no problem. Now i have one: when i insert DVD/CD, it can list the files (divx) in it, but doesn't play. On the other hand, when i copy the "same" movies...

I would try a disc cleaner and using a can of compressed air. be careful not to let the device receive any of the actual propellant by using small bursts of air. otherwise if u hold the nozzle down to long u could do damage to the device other than good. sometimes the eye is strong enough or not dirty enough to read just the file portion but not good enough to read the movie portion. It can read the Usb part due to the reader using the microchip part in the player not the eye of the dvd player. A usb port and a optical drive work entirely independant. usually if it won't read it means it is either the eye dirty or the eye is not working anymore. independant electronic / tv repair shops can replace the eye for approx. $50.00. But if the cleaner doesn't help letting the player read the movies again. Then I would suggest taking it to a shop and having the eye replaced or just do a "tune up" on it.

BRDVD Bluray incompatibility list

INSIGNIA BRDVD Blueray player

I like many people have bought a Bluray movie for my BRDVD Bluray player to have it not work. It is unfortunate part of Bluray and near every player has or will have some disc that will not play until a later update is made.

I noticed that it is really hard to find list that tell you what Bluray movies have problems as well as what those problems are. I will have a short list and will try to keep it updated whenever I get a report that a Bluray is having problems. Please report any problems by sending me a email at or sending me a message in the comments here.

 • Inglorious Bastards-Disc will skip back and not play movie through the main screen. No fix is confirmed.
 • Couples Retreat- Main movie will not play. No fix is confirmed.
 • An Education(BBC video)-Movie skips back to main screen and will not play main video. No fix is confirmed
 • Alvin and the chipmunks-Main movie will not play. No is confirmed at this time.
 • "9"(Nine)- Main movie will not play. No fix confirmed
 • Twilight- Canada only- Movie would not play. Please contact the company located on the disk sleeve. It was a glitch that many player could not overcome so it would go back to main menu.
 • Percy Jackson-said to skip and at times not play at all.
 • Kick ***- Movie will not play and just gives an error on start up.

Please contact me with any info on fixes and problems. I will make several other lists for other players. I bought Inglorious Bastards and all I have is a $25 coaster now. I would like to keep this updated to help others not do the same. I will post any and all problems people are having with differant disk and any possible solutions.

How to play Blu-ray movies on HDTV via WDTV HD Media Player

It’s an amazing experience to watch HD movies on a home theater system in the living room with your friends or family. WDTV HD Media Player is a reliable gadget to realize this goal, since it can play just about any video format you throw at it, including Full HD video up to 1080p. With this little box, you are able to set free all of your collected photos, videos that stuck on your PC, and play them back on your HDTV. As we all know, Blu-ray disc is a pop medium to store high definition movies, but because of copyright issues, it’s a troublesome thing for users to have access to BD movies at will. Now I would like to share my own experience about how to play Blu-ray movie on HDTV via WDTV HD Media Player, and if you are interested in it, you can feel free to check the following content.
First of all, you should have a brief understanding of WDTV HD Media Player supported file formats:
Video - AVI (Xvid, AVC, MPEG1/2/4), MPG/MPEG, VOB, MKV (h.264, x.264, AVC, MPEG1/2/4, VC-1), TS/TP/M2T (MPEG1/2/4, AVC, VC-1), MP4/MOV (MPEG4, h.264), M2TS, WMV9
Playlist - PLS, M3U, WPL
Subtitle -SRT, ***, SSA, SUB, SMI
As you can see in the above list, M2TS is included, which is the file extension of Blu-ray streams, so if we want to playback BD .m2ts files, we just need remove BD protection in advance. In that case, Pavtube Blu-Ray Ripper would be a good assistant, it is able to remove almost all kinds of copyright protections of BD discs, no matter BD+, or AACS, even MKB Version > 10 is supported as well.
To enable Blu-ray movies to playback on HDTV via WDTV HD Media Player, you can select "Directly Copy" from output format profile. This process will remove BD protections only, and the output .m2ts files will fully match the original files, which will keep high definition totally, but your removable disk should have enough space to save the output files, because the generated file size would be as same large as the original.

Additionally, if you want to save your disk space as well as keep HD quality, you can totally select other format that can be read by WDTV as output format. For instance, here I choose "HD Video" .mkv as output format, through clicking "Settings" button, and then I can set video and audio parameters in the popup window, including setting aspect ratio at 1920*1080, AAC 5.1 channels and something else like bit rate, frame rate, sample rate.

After conversion is finished, just plug your external hard drive or your thumb drive which has stored the output files into WDTV, and then connect the device to your HDTV via HDMI cable. Once done, you are able to enjoy your BD movies now. Well, hope it would be of some help for you guys who are looking around for this info.

Sounds like a heat problem, look on the back of the player and see if the fan is full of debris ( dust, pet hair, ect.) blow it out and see if that helps.

Protection flashing and the system turns off

You need to take it in for service. I work at an authorized JVC service center and can tell you that you now have a serious problem. It could be the amplifier or the power supply causing it. The protect circuit will activate for several different reasons and only a properly trained technician with the right tools can determain just what the problem is. I don't berlieve that trying to play the disc you mentioned would have any relation to the cause of the problem, it is most likely just a coincidence that it happened at the same time.

Before you take it in, try this.

Unplug all the speakers and then see if it will turn on and stay on. If it does stay on you may have a bad speaker. Turn it back off again and then connect one speaker at a time and turn it back on. If it shuts off in protect when you connect the first speaker, unplug that speaker and try another. If it still shuts off and goes to protect with a different speaker you have an amplifier problem. If it stays on with another speaker it may be the previous speaker is causing the problem, so take it in to be checked. Whenever you connect a speaker and then the unit goes to protect, it may be the speaker that was just connected that is causing the problem. This is not 100% all the time, but it is a pretty good indicator that is worth trying before spending money on a repair.

If the unit goes to protect even with no speakers connected you have an internal power supply or amplifier problem for sure.

Le tme know if you need any more help.

Can I connect External HDD to my SONY DAV DZ 270

You can connect external HDD to dz270... BUT you can only play audio & photos through it. It's the limitation of dz270, you can't play video through USB.
dz270 cant recognize NTFS filesytem, do a FAT32 partition of 200GB or so.
I bought 500GB seagate free agent ... but i couldn't use it with my dz270 to play movies :-). I could have gone for dz290 :-(
