Question about Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router

New Laptop Connection

I have a new laptop that I'm trying to connect to my Wireless-G Broadband Router so I can have wireless internet connection. I have been following the instructions on the disk, but at a certain point, it asks for a password. I don't know what it wants, as I don't remember a password when I hooked this router up to my wife's laptop several months ago.

Also, go to and leave username blank and password as 'admin'. This will lead you into the settings, you can enable/disable the password and change it here.

My laptop can detect the wi-fi but I cannot connect to the internet. What is wrong with my router? Please help me out. This is a new router by the way.

routers have a limited bandwidth.. but some routers need to register your laptop serial to be able to connect to the internet.. there is a permission to allow your laptop to use the wireless connection.. check your wireless connection setting, then choose your router name, then try to connect..

I bought new laptop Dell vostro, it is not able to

Probably your network is secured so you will need to configure connection (provide WEP or WPA passkey to connect).
Double click on wireless network name you wish to connect and put encryption key

Connecting wireless router to laptop computer

Try changing the channel on the router. It would be better to isolate the problem first by trying to connect to other wireless networks on your laptop or having someone's laptop connect to your home wireless network.

Not able to connect to internet

1. try to check the status of the connection:
make sure it is connected and the status does not say either of the ff:
a. local only
b. limited or no connectivity
c. limited access only

2. try to change the network name [ssid] and the network key [wep or wpa passphrase]
you can change this by accessing the ipaddress of the router or its user interface

3.try to reconnect to the new network name
and make sure the status says connected.

this is not a browser issue . it is with the connection set up.
