Question about Toshiba SD-5000
SD-5000...Hooked to a Sony Bravia via component cables, now picture, but sound. It was working fine, then had problem reading DVD's. It would stall and function very slowly. Moved TV to wall mount, and now no picture. TV doesn't seem to recognize the SD-5000. Have rechecked all hook-ups several times. seem OK. When hooked up to another TV, same problem, but also no sound. Any clue? Unit is 1.5 months old.
I had the same problem and I managed to solve it. It was because the HDMI was set to 1080i and my TV isn't HD. Default HDMI is 480p. You can check your current HDMI setting on the front panel of your DVD. There should be a button with the words "HDMI select". Next to it there should be 3 values. If the current one (a green light shows which one is selected) is not 480p, change it. To change it, make sure your sd-5000 is on, but not reading a DVD. The press the "HDMI select" button on the front panel until the selected one is 480p. This worked for me.
(I had the same same problem without the reading slowly part. On one TV, the sound and video weren't working, and only the video wasn't working on another TV)
Hope it helps.
