How to test my microphone is installed or not?

Hi, a simple solution to this would be to buy/install a microphone. Usually there is a 'microphone' already installed on your device but occasionally there isn't. Windows as you might now is not as advanced as apple so problems or 'bugs' are very common. If you have no 'installed' microphone you can easily go to stores such as Target/Walmart/Etc and purchase one. Prices can range from $20-200 but the outcome will be even phenomenal!

Make sure you have installed the Acer's audio driver for your model laptop. Test the audio by playing a music CD.
SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM
If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.
To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.Also while you are in the Audio Settings select the your Audio card in Speakers.

Hello, does your microphone came with a CD when you bought it? If it does, did you install it? Try putting it in your CDROM drive and wait for a moment before the program from the CD runs. You might see a screen/menu related to your microphone and there should be a menu for Install. Click on that and wait for the program to finish installing. Test your microphone again.

Always double check if the microphone jack is connected to the proper port.

How to get your webcam microphone to work: Click on Control Panel, Hardwre and Sound, Sound, Recording. You should see your microphone icon with a Green check mark on it. If there is no Green check mark, it means it is disabled. If there is No green mark on Microphone it never works. To enable the Microphone Right click on Microphone and click on Enable. If you do not see the Microphone in the list, Right click on the White space and select Show disabled devices. Then you would see the Microphone. However, if you do not see the green check mark on it, Right click on it and click on Enable. And also Select Microphone and click on Set Default (If Set as default button is active).

If you see the Green check mark on Microphone the Microphone definitely works.

Step 3: Increasing Microphone Sensitivity and Un-muting the Microphone.

1. Select Microphone and click on Properties button.

2. Adjust the slider until to 100 % of its range.

3. If Mute is on, click the mute button to un-mute the device.

4. If Microphone Boost is available, boost the volume.

5. Click OK to make the changes.

Now the Microphone should work. To verify you can test it on the free webcam test tool site.

I cannot hear any microphone playback 2) Installing the driver software for it takes sound out of my computer my microphone seems to be fine because the green light comes on when i test it, but no playback in speaker when i record. I know im jus missing one little thing...can you help me?

The problem is either the microphone is not connected/faulty or the wrong microphone is selected in the Skype Audio setting.
To check if the microphone is working - go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and do a test recording.
If the sound is doesn't work then open Device Manager - Sound, video and game controllers and check the microphone is enabled and working. If it isn't listed or has a yellow ? against the microphone then you need to install the microphone device driver.
If the microphone is working then open Skype then click on Tools tab -then Options - Audio Settings - then in microphone setting and click on the microphone list to select your model microphone. Then Save your settings.
To test your microphone settings then go to Contact list and select Echo / Sound Test.Service and follow the instructions. If this works then your friends will be able to hear you,

Try going into your system preferences. Click on the sound prefs->choose input->you should make sure that the internal microphone is selected.You can also adjust the input level and visually confirm that the microphone is working with the input level meter. Hope this helps

Is your microphone built-in or external?
To test your microphone click on the record program to test it.
It is located in - Start - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder.
Record your voice and play back to test.

For XP users,try:
>Start
>ControlPanel
>Sounds and Audio Devices
>Audio
>Sound Playback
Click on drop down menu arrow.
If there are two audio devices listed: Deselect current device; select second device.
