Same Problem

-   The floor furnace is an American Standard and this right hand on/off is for the burner. This rod that extends down into the unit will not turn on and I was wondering if it is just stuck and needs to be freed or is it broken where it won't turn on or off. The burner was on last heating season and was fine when it was turned off. Now it will not turn back on. I don't want to force it where I may break the rod, but it is getting cold now. Would it do any good to put some WD on the valve? Any help I can get would be appreciated.

That is the control for the main gas valve. These old ones have a gas valve separate from the pilot. Also the regulator is separate unit. You have to turn these controls with a long rod, right?
