Question about NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

Losing connection with WGR614 v6 router

I've had this router about a year, with no issues. The last few days I've started losing signal periodically. It's gotten worse, and today I can only get a signal for about a minute before it drops. I contacted Time Warner about it, thinking it was their issue (it usually is), but it doesn't seem to be the cable. When I plug my computer directly into the modem, all works fine.
So it seems the router is the issue. Any suggestions?

worked fine for 2 years, then three weeks ago it stopped working. I have ATT DSL. A hard-wired connection works to the computer. I have a son with a laptop and his computer won't connect to the router either. So it is a router issue.

I'd really rather not buy a new router, but it's looking like I might have to. I'd like to know why it's suddenly failed.

Ok, forgive the ignorant here, but I can't find what you're referring to. This is a work computer, and it's set up to use ThinkVantage Access Connections, and I'm not finding anything related to channels in there. Do I need to go through Windows to fix the channel setting? If so, do I have to keep using Windows for my wireless connection?

Well, glad I found someone with the same problem, the answer will certianly surprise you.
The answer is cordless phones and satellite interent.
if you have cordless phones and/or satellite internet it will lose signal.
They run on the same frequency.
To fix it log into your router, goto wireless settings, then check the box for enable channel settings. You may have to reboot the router and PC.
Should help.
Good luck and have a happy new year.

Perhaps it's a TV issue. Have you tried to delete the TV connection in the TV wireless setting and reconfigure? Go to the TV's website and search the issue or troubleshooting.

The signal is strong but there's no connection to internet

I have this problem sometimes. If you lose connection to the modem, you can't connect back to it, you have to reset the modem. Goto the modem, unplug it, wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in. Goto your connections, select yours, disconnect and then reconnect, wait a few seconds and it should connect. Hope this helps, let me know if it does or doesn't.

Loses connection w. remote computer I have a laptop one room away. The laptop accesses the internet and printers from this location. Most of the time it works. However, it will suddently lose the conection...

Check if this router is stronng enough interms of it signals. Check on the laptop the signal strength of the conenction.

If the signal strength is poor you can either move closer to the wireless router or vice versa or can get an access poitn to boost the signal.

Please rate if helpful.

How to install with out the cd?

Are you using XP? You shouldn't need the CD.

http://www.netgear.com/Home/Products/Adapters/GWirelessAdapters/WG111.aspx

Gives you information about the USB adapter.

http://www.netgear.com/Products/RoutersandGateways/GWirelessRouters/WGR614.aspx

That gives you information about your wireless router.

Do you need a manual to set this up? It looks like there are different version of this wireless router. Which one do you have? This can be identified on the package or the unit's bottom label.

Once we know which version you have we can continue.
