I have a Hitachi 5159j projection TV, when you press the power button the tv powers on for a minute, and shuts down. I don't know if it is related, but I pluged a small tv to the same receptacle and now it won't turn on. The small tv has a external power supply and the voltage is fine according to the manufactures label.
