Help with repair for LG 2055ST

Our LG 2055ST is just over 1 Yr old, maybe 14mths. It suddenly lost power while operating- no noise, no flash, no smell of burning, nothing. It just went off. No keypad, hoodlight, fan, nothing. I tested the outlet with a circuit tester, it checks out. Of course the warranty ran out at 1 yr. Please help.

Same problem with same model in white, not stainless. Microwave about 18 months old. Totally dead. Outlet is fine. Wife really **********. I thought about fuse too, was not sure where to find it. But posting said near plug. Wish it was easier to get to without having to take it off the wall.

Our LG LMVM2055SB (black) is about 20 months old. It just suddenly lost power while
operating too. It is completely dead. No keypad, no lights, no fan, no LCD clock. I tested the supply outlet with a
circuit tester and it checks out as okay with 120 volts. Called LG and thus far no product recall.

I have had the same problem 3times with this model. They will replace parts but not pay for labor. Unable to get to talk with higher levels of customer service.

Three times the the unit has lost all power.

Yep. My LG went totally dead too. I replaced the fuse but it did not correct the problem. One tech mentioned to check the magnatron, but it seems the problem should be somewhere in the power. Any thoughts at all? If you think you know just email me at Neal@EggDesignGroup.com--thanks

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. I tlooks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.

7 yr old unit emitting burning smell. Everything still works. Is it worth trying to get repaired or just buy a new one.

is the burning smell just when you use the convection oven or when you use the microwave , reason I ask is that if its only coming from the convection oven then chances are you have something melted on the heat elements , this can be cleaned off with a dry brillo pad

Sharp R-510 FK dangerous noise

Hello. To me, it sounds like something is stuck to the inside of your cavity and it is arcing, as you are seeing a bright flash, and hearing it. I would take apart/clean everything inside the cooking area, something is causing a problem in there. Usually just a good cleaning is all it needs, as the debris is making a focus point for the energy. Try putting a small glass of water, only 1/4 full, and watch while you start it, to see where the arcing is, it won't hurt anything for a second or 10.

Hope that helped, and thank you.

Ringing noise from refrigerator

It's probably a dry bearing on either the compressor or the fan in the freezer. The evaporator, I believe it's called.

If it's under a year old, it's probably in warranty. You can get warranty info & find a local authorized servicer from there, too.

Makes loud hum and faint smell when turned on

It sounds like your magnetron failing.

If a fuse were blown, it would be totally dead with no lights, no display, etc.

Keeping it out of the landfill a while longer by getting it fixed is always an option.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

Microwave will not heat My microwave is 5 years old. It was installed with my travel trailer that I purchased. All of sudden there is no heat, have a burning smell and a humming noise. We only use our...

I would say either the high voltage transformer or magnetron has failed.

Your oven has a 12 month parts & labor warranty and a 5 year warranty covering the magnetron.

If you have an extended warranty (or a long warranty) from your RV dealer, that can help. I'd ask them or check your paperwork.

Otherwise, you can visit Daewoo online or call them at 1-800-323-9668 or 1-800-553-4355 to find parts or find your nearest authorized service center to have them do the work.

Lg LMV1630st stainless steel microwave oven

I'm confused. If it's 6 weeks old, you can get it repaired free.

If it's 1-1/2 years old, the manufacturer will cover the part cost of the magnetron (assuming that's what's wrong) and you will have to pay for labor and any other needed parts.

Also, the subject line mentions a model LMV1630ST while your message body mentions model LMV1680BB.

For Goldstar / LG / customer service, help, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit here.

Chances are your problem is a bad magnetron, but it may be another high voltage part.

MV-1610 Runs but doesn't heat

That wouldn't be a resistor on the capacitor, it would be the high voltage rectifier diode.

It should read open on a continuity check. A shorted high voltage diode is a fairly common cause of a no-heat condition.

For testing, see: http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html

Not heating properly

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

If that doesn't do it, and your line voltage is right, then I would say your magnetron is dying.

Slow is heat is a typical symptom of magnetron failure.

Started making noise

It's probably the magnetron or high voltage transformer, but it may also be a failing high voltage diode.

Depending on the age of the unit, the magnetron may still be under a part warranty, but taking it apart would likely void that warranty.

If you think it might be under warranty, you should contact LG. For Goldstar / LG / L.G. help, call 1-800-243-0000 (M-F, 7am-8pm CT, Sat 8-5 CT) and choose the appropriate prompt from the menu or visit http://www.lgservice.com.

If you decide to check it further yourself, we have a similar model's service manual on our site:
http://www.microwavedisplay.com/mv1555st_sm.pdf

Bear in mind that the part numbers will not be the same for yours - you will have to call LG to get proper part numbers.
