Camera will not turn on

The camera will not turn on or show any signs of life even when there are new batteries in it. Will not turn on at all. Dropped accidently, does not rattle and will light up when on charger. Can it be fixed.

I have the same problem- got this response from Sony (within 33 minutes of sending my email!)

Thank you for contacting Sony Support.
I am sorry that your Konica Minolta Camera does not turn on with the battery. I suggest that you try with different battery and check the operation. If the issue still persists, turn if off, remove and reinsert the battery, or unplug and reconnect the AC adaptor.
If the issue persists after following all the steps service will be required. You can find repair information and initiate service at:
TIP: Be sure to change the "Product Company"

Camera optio e40 pentax shows the battery life as depleted even tho they are new batteries I have tried any new AA batteries 1.5 then I tried rechargagles at 1.2 for digital cameras.

this is not malfunction.
According to its manual, just turn it off ,wait for one minute and
turn it on again. It'll reset th camera. You need to reset the date/time.

I have dropped the camera in sea water.from then not working.

If you ever do this again then you must immediately rinse the camera in freshwater, remove the battery and get it to a repair outlet immediately. Even then your camera will likely be unrepairable if it shows any symptoms after the accident.

Sea water is about the worst thing you can subject a camera to as it's electrically conductive. When the camera dries out, salt crystals form inside and cause physical damage and chemically attack the camera to corrode it.

Sorry, but in my experienced opinion your camera is a total write off and I don't know any professional repairers who would even attempt to fix this as it would almost certainly have to be returned to them for additional work as more faults show up afterwards.

Could be either. If on switch on again the indicator is full and you get more work done then its a camera fault. If when you switch on again the battery remains flat then this could be the camera fault too the flash capacitor showing signs of distress. On the other hansd the battery could be nearing the end it useful life. How much is a new battery?

This could be any of hundreds of different faults so I'll give you the ones you can check yourself. One or more of your batteries are faulty. The battery contacts are dirty. The batteries are inserted wrongly. You have a problem with the lens mechanism. Shake camera and listen for anything rattling around. If metal it could short anything out. Check your troubleshooting chart in your user's manual. Google for "Panasonic Lumix LZ2 problems" Is the power switch feeling as if it's actually switching. Has the camera been dropped or given swimming lessons. Check all your switches to make sure nothing is disabled. Apart from these it's impossible to say what's wrong. A trip to a repair shop may be in order.
