Re: sony psp

A) Open the battery cover, remove the battery, and try to force the disc slot to open.

b) Get a flat screwdriver, and gently try to force the slot open.
NOTE: Do not force to hard as you may damage the UMD/other components.

Hi. Since you're in UMD Autoload mode, you need to configure that in the PSP Settings. To do this, turn off your PSP and remove your UMD. Now, turn it back on and it won't autoload your UMD since it wasn't there anymore.
Now, go to "Settings" and scroll down to "System Settings" and press X. Scroll down again the selection until you see "UMD Auto-Start" and press X. At the right side will appear the options "ON" and "OFF". Select "OFF" and press O button several times to go back to main screen.
Insert your UMD. Now, try playing games from Memory Stick. You may have to turn off your PSP and turn it on again to finally play homebrew...
I hope this helps...

My psp isnt playing a brand new game. it wont load the umd. the umd is pretty clean. i wait for it to load and it wont.

Below where the UMD game appears on screen try the button below that should say 'Update PSP'. The game could have an update for the PSP and won't play without it. If this doesn't work contact Sony Website Forums and see if anybody there has had the problem.

PSP cant load games

Maybe needs the laser lens cleaning.
You'd be surprised how much dust get sucked in.
You can do it yourself if you are careful.
All you need to do is with the PSP facing you as normal open the drive door at the back, look to the right hand side inside the PSP for a little round shiny lens.
Then carefully wipe a coton bud across the surface. No pressure is needed. Sometimes thats all it needs.
There's a picture of one taken out of the PSP so you can see it more clearly. The bottom of the picture is the top of the drive where you insert the disks. The bit that looks like a record is the motor turntable that spins the disk. You should see that in the middle of the drive when you open the door.
Hope it helps.

Psp not saving or loading

Hi Spazza2,

Did yout try using the same UMD game your brother was using and see if the game format has anything to do with it?  Since you upgraded, the UMD game may be old, and might not work with Version 3.71. It sounds like your PSP is working just  fine other than that.
