I got some virus but i removed it with msn virus remover now i open it and i find it blocking my contacts is it still infected?

Hi and welcome hummymoh !
Probably msn virus wasn't efficient enough . Delete it and install Microsoft Security essentials from : http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Let it make a full scan of your system but even this might not be sufficient .
Download and install malwareBytes from : http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
Make an additional full scan with this malware killer .
Everything is free , easy and safe .
Best regards .

Hi. the problem is whenever i signed in my msn it opens for a second and then a box with an Error pop up, choices are "Dont send & Report" when click dont send the msn just shut down and...

Assuming the operating system you use is windows xp and if it is, try

going to Add or remove programs by clicking on start- control panel- and then add remove programs. And on the left hand side, the third

option you will see is ADD REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS, click

on it and then uncheck the msn check box and proceed by clicking

next and then finish it and RESTART your machine. Once restarted, go

back to add remove programs and then click on windows components

and check the box for msn messenger as it was before and complete

the task by clicking next and then see if messenger works fine.

Please reply back if it worked.

I am trying to sign on to msn messenger and i get the error code it is 80048820

Hi,

Please follow steps to resolved issue

The Solutions to MSN Error Code 8004882080048820_lan.jpg Internet Explorer - Try removing the tick next to Internet Explorer 'Proxy server' settings, instead, go with the 'Automatically detect settings'.
1) Launch Internet Explorer, click Tools and then click Internet Options.
From the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab.
Click LAN Setting. Un check the Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections) checkbox. Finally positively tick: 'Automatically detect settings'.
2) Register softpub.dll.
Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll. Restart MSN Messenger. See also Error code 81000314
3) If necessary, logon as a local administrator and set the computer's clock to the correct date and time. (Check on the internet if possible.)
4) Turn off the firewall temporarily. Check firewall settings such as Norton: "Block access to secure sites". If this cures the problem, make sure that Microsoft's MSN Messenger is allowed full access through your firewall.
NetGear problem, but also with some other routers
a) Enter IP address 192.168.0.1 in your browser's address bar.
b) Log on with ISP user name and password.
c) Enter Admin, password
d) Navigate to advanced menu, WAN set-up
e) Change MTU size to 1400
5) Try a password of no more than 8 characters.
6) If you are using IE 7.0 check the SSL Settings. Internet options advanced (Tab) scroll down to the bottom. Security section. Tick 'Use ssl 2.0'.
7) One of the simplest ways of curing MSN error 80048820 is to unplug, or restart your modem. This is particularly effective for cable modems.
8) We should have tried this solution before; check that the MSN site is 'up' 'available'. However, even if the site is down, you don't usually get error code 80048820.
8a) As a variation, of checking online, you could try phoning your local Microsoft Support office. Local area numbers available from http://support.microsoft.com.
9) Have you just installed any anti-virus software? Did the anti-virus software just make a big update? Try disabling and see if that cures the error.
10) A drastic solution is to try uninstalling MSN Messenger version 8.0 or 7.5 and install Microsoft MSN version 7.0.

Hope it can resolved issue
Thanks for using Fixya

Hello,
Now before you do anything else, go to Control Panel and then to User Accounts and Put off the User Account Control. Then restart your PC. If the msn is already running, then right-click the taskbar and go to 'Task Manager' and then to processes and look for it there and terminate it. Now go to Program Files and then to 'msn live messenger'. Open the folder and delete as many files as you can (some may not go). Try renaming and changing the extension (e.g take away the .dll extension) of the files that will not delete. The ones that will change, delete them. If you still have some files in there, log off or restart and then go there again and rename the main msn folder itself and delete it. Now go to progams in control panel and try to uninstall it and it will ask if it should be removed from the list since it is not valid anymore. That all, you are done.

Hope this is helpful. All the best.

How to remove msn

I take it that you don't wish to use MSN for internet access. You can delete it from your network connections window.
Then you will have to set up a connection that will use either dial-up or some form of high-speed connection. That will become your default connection.

I have am msn virus that keeps sending links to my contacts and saying that I am signed into more than one version so it closes on me

I suggest you try and run ComboFix - it's an excellent utility that removes some of the toughest viruses around. The downside is you can only run it after you've been infected, as it does not stay on your computer and protect you continuously.

You can find instructions and a download link on this page:
