The speakers are designed so that you can switch between a variety of different audio sources. there are 5.1ch analog 3.5mm jacks to hook up to a computer's 5.1 soundcard, SPDIFs (both analog, and digital), and a bunch of other goodies. I have their predecessors myself (the Z-680s), and they are excellent speakers in themselves.

but has to answer your question, here's a PDF of the user manual, explaining how to connect each source (click here).

also, here's a link to a complete specification breakdown, if you want to know the details regarding what this system is and what it's capable of.

hope you enjoy them :D

How to fix a logitech surround sound system

if there is no light on the control, check the mains fuse on the back of the woofer box, if blown, you may have an amplifier ic (tda7294) blown (there are 6 on the big board), replace the ic, if still no sound, mute may be blocked in on position, on small side board there is a transistor (2n4401) connected to a white wire going to the big board, replace the transistor (you may use a bc337)

Hello Sir, As I wish to buy a home theatre speaker system. And my budget is upto Rs.5500.I have searched for the same in internets,I found two products that are compatible to me.The products are iball...

Both the speakers you have mentioned are multimedia speakers and don't have Dolby Digital, ProLogic or DTS decoders built in. So if your DVD player does not have 5.1 analogue out , only two speakers will work.
Among the two the creative sounds better but like you mentioned the I ball has a remote and higher output on paper !!.
My recommendation is Logitech X-540.Check the link below.

I don't have a sound card.but how can i connect logitech Z-5500 speakers to my pc

Since Logitec Z-5500 is a 5.1 Speaker System you need to purchase a Sound Card to be able to connect it with your pc. You can get a Sound card starting with a price tag of 20 Pounds.
Hope this will help you solve your problem Best Regards NextDoorNerd

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.

Can the cable ends be converted to fit a DVD?

You can certainly purchase a cable or an adaptor to connect the speakers to almost anything - this however is not the issue - z5300 computer speakers have an impedance of 8 ohms, whereas most home theatre systems will be set up to use speakers with an impedance of 4 Ohms or 6 ohms or 8 ohms - using the wrong type in the wrong configuration is very likely to result in damage. Also the speakers contain their own amplifier, and are designed to accept an input that has not been amplified to speaker levels before - most tv/dvd audio output will be amplified, depending on the model, so will almost certainly destroy your speakers unless you have a low amplification output on your tv/dvd. If you post back with the make and model of your tv and dvd player, hopefully i can find the necessary info to describe how you could make the connection if it is possible. Logitech says; "Logitech speakers are powered speakers and are designed to be used with a home computer. However, it is still possible to connect your speakers to many other devices. You can connect any Logitech speaker to any device that has a pre-amp mini-headphone jack. Home amplifiers will normally contain a standard ¼" headphone jack. You'll need to purchase a ¼" to 1/8th" adapter to connect your Logitech speakers to a home amplifier. Note: Under no circumstances should you connect your Logitech speaker system to an amplified output such as the rear outputs of a home amplifier. Doing so may cause damage to your Logitech speakers as well as your home amplifier." Hope this helps - please post back with details :)
