Question about Technics SL-MC7 110-Disc CD Changer

1 Answer

No play Changer is about 7 years old. Never had a problem. Now cd's will not play in any slot; it pulls cd in for about 5 sec (but doesn't spin cd) then spits cd out display reads: no disk then a message starts scrolling across display: "quick change system mega changer" and keeps scrolling over and over as blue window lights blink. The unit was not very dusty but I blew any dust out; then I cleaned the lens with rubbing alcohol on a swab. Problem persists. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. thanks, Kyle

Same problem for me, except that the display keeps showing "NO DISC". At some point, I caught it displaying "Error CF 15", but only once.

    ....

So now I wonder if the definition of CF15 is what you got as "quick change system mega changer"

AND...if it makes a difference...there is an infra-red diode at the entrance of the slot and it does not appear to charge. Yes, I know it is not visible light but I DO one method of how to check it. So I wonder if the diode is not properly checking the entry of a CD and thereby indicates "NO DISC". Maybe the diode is burned and once replaced it will work properly again. What do you think?

Sounds like the drive belt that spins the disk is slipping or broken. You have only one actual cd reader so no matter what slot the disc is in it has to go to the same cd reader drive.

Hope this helps...

Sony CDP-C910 will no longer play cds or eject changer cartridge

Mine did the same thing. My player was primarily used in the garage and the cold weather may have caused my player to do the same thing. I just fixed my player. I removed the top cover and looked at the CD in the play position. In the upper right corner from the CD, you will see a spindle motor with a belt on it. Gently spin the motor back and forth carefully with your finger. I rotated it a half-spin in either direction, careful not to dislodge the belt. When I turned the player back on, the mechanism operated as it normally would and began playing the disc. I was able to eject and reinsert the magazine without any issues, solving the problem. Hopefully that will work for you.

Cd-s start-and-stop play intermittently

Hi, you have one of 2 possible problems, either the laser is dirty and needs cleaning, this can be done by going into any computer hardware store and buy a lens cleaning cd, its like a cd with brushes on it that you put in and when it spins round it removes any dust,

or the other problem is going to be that the laser is coming to the end of its life, now as its 8 years old then chances are the problem is with the laser or the motor that spins the cd, these only have a certain life span and dont last for ever, so if cleaning dont work then this means the laser unit needs replacing, so you would have to work out repair costs, and thats even if the parts can be bought and replaced as its 8 years old so you might struggle to get it repaired

CD player will not play burned Cd's anymore after 5 years of work

If it has been playing CD's for over 5 years (really reliable CD player.) then I'd think it's had it's life, it needs to rest now. Meaning it's dead so you either get a replacement or a get a new CD player.

This is what happened to my mum by the way. ;)

Hi, this is a common issue within car CD changers. the load motor go through lots of trauma during the life span that i usually 3 to 5 years. the load motor operates everything in the changer. it works the load tray and spinning of the disc as well. when this motor is out, the changer will be rendered useless. replacing the load motor will fix this issue or, you can just purchase a new changer and save a lot of money.
