Some of the components most likely in the power supply or one of the hard working circuit boards have become thermo sensitive. An experienced service tech can troubleshoot for this and replace the necessary components. Most of the cost will be for the labour more than the parts if they are only common generic type parts.

When there is this type of failure, most of the time in these power supplies and any of the boards that are working under high power factors, the electrolytic capacitors become thermo sensitive with time and age.

There are times with these sets that a complete board will have to be changed to fix the fault. Normaly, these sets are serviced by complete board replacement.

Take care that servicing these TV sets can be fairly expensive, especialy when replacing circuit boards.

When I turn on my HL-T5687S, the screen remains black and there are 3 dots on the lower right hand side of the panel?

My TV is (same model is doing the same thing). The manual shows that the 3 blinking lights indicate "LED may be defective. Please contact a certified technician."

Note: When I power my TV off (unplug) and back on, the TV's left indicator light is solid for less than a second ("Stadby state") then the right light blinks ("The picture will automatically appear in about 15 seconds") for about 15 seconds. This pattern is repeated numerous times (I think it was 5 times). I believe the TV must be failing some power-on test. Aftere failing 5 times it gives LED may be defective indication.

If you turn the set on and the green light blinks then the red light blinks and no other sound comes from the back of the set and you cannot hear any fan turning, you probably have a bad Temperature Fuse. It would be locate either under the lamp assy or on the side of the lamp housing. It would be necessary to remove the Optical Block to get access to it.
I hope this helps,

In my WS 65809 projector tv, when I turn on the power, the green light clicks on for a couple of seconds, then clicks right back off.

DO THIS AND LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU FIND:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

If this information has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.
