I have an iMac intel core duo. I was playing with the finder and the drive's icon disappeared from the desktop-how do I recover it? How can I be sure the drive is working-the (lost) icon indicates available capacity but in the iMac's finder there is no indication of it working
1. Restart your Mac with the drive plugged in. 2. Use Disk Utility (/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility) to look for the drive.
3. If it isn't mounted, select the disk in Disk Utility, select the Disk First Aid tab, and click Repair Disk.
4. Look in the Finder Preferences and make sure that you haven't disabled the display of disk icons on the desktop.

Hi My passport drive worked fine until recently. Now, the PC does not recognise it. When I connect it, I can see the light and feel the movement and hear the sound, but my pc just does not recognise it. I went to disk management but no chance. I restarted the computer, still no luck. I bought it mainly to store all my data. There's so much data in there, that I am worried if I have lost it all!! Please help! Thanks Rehana
