Hi,

How old is the TV? Are the discs you are trying original store bought ones or burnt ones?

You should try a lens cleaner, there could just be dust on the lens.

I have a Philips Magnavox 20MC4304 20 in. TV/VCR/DVD Combo. But the DVD player shows some error. It said "playback feature may not be available on this disk" and it dosen't read the disk.

Try some other discs if you have not----If all show the same or similar error you have either a dirty or bad optical pickup in the player (it reads the discs).

No it is not worthy, you will spend around $100, but brand new combo 13'' cost $80 and DVD starts from $22. You can use an external one.

Unfortunately a cleaning disk will not work for you. If you feel comfortable opening up the unit. you will need to get to the lens itself and clean it using a cotton swab and alcohol. If you can't fo that, have the unit serviced. A cleaning should only cost a minimum labor charge.

My tv dvd combi 21pt6820/05

These units use a belt for the loading mechanism. If the belt slips at all, the loading will not complete and lock. This will prevent the unit from reading the disc. Try loading a music CD. If hte CD plays ok, then the optics assembly is in need of at least a cleaning or replacement.
