Re: red spots

I had red and green spots, and I called the service department at the furniture store where we purchased our 42" TV. They said it needed to be updated, and they picked it up, fixed it, and delivered it back to the house for about $25.00. We had a warranty, so it only cost for coming to the house twice... No more spots!

My son threw a golf ball at our Sanyo LCD - 42" -

I assume you meant the screen is now broken.
Some things to consider:

1. Replace the son with one who does not throw golf balls in the house. Ha ha! [jk]
2. Check to see if the warranty (usually online if you don't have the original paperwork) covers screen breakage, or ask the store where you bought the tv if there is anything they can do.
3. If the warranty is a no-go, contact the tv manufacturer and see why they may do... what the cost would be to repair etc. Some screens are covered in case they crack, but it is probably obvious it wasn't a manufacturer's defect if a golf ball hit it.
4. If those steps don't work out, check videos or info online to see if this is a job you or a techie could do - (in last case scenario).
5. If none of these check out, sadly, you might be left with a very large, expensive doorstop.
Good luck.

TV made a loud noise like somebody was hitting a golf ball then the TV will not turn on and the power light just flashes red.

The red flashinf light is an error code. You need to count how many times it flashes befor a pause. This will let you know possible problems with the set. Please include make and model of your unit. Thanks.

Need remote control code for 32" tv for direct tv remote

To reprogram your remote control there is a specific website available online for Direct TV owners. To get started, you will need to locate your model number and know the Brand name. The website will require you to enter that information in. The model number is printed in the upper left hand corner of your remote control. Then go to : and follow the prompts from there. Your remote will be up and running in no time.

Turning on my phillips tv the power button is blinking red

Plasma? Your power supply has bad capacitors. 3300uf most likely. This is a common problem on some Philips plasma TVs. Power board is located top center of the TV with the rear access panel removed. look toward the lower left portion of the board. If you notice any capacitors (they look like little plastic wrapped cans) with swollen tops or leaking dark fluid from the top of them, replace them. Myself, I always step up the voltage rating... ex: 3300uf, 10v -> 3300uf, 16v.

Light green and pink spots on my hd tv!!!

(Yes, this is a cross-post from another thread...I just wanted to help everyone on the various threads on this issue...please do not flame me)
Ok...once and for all I will explain the fix (in detail...which has been missing)...

1) Firmware updates do not fix this problem. I had this problem, and updated my firmware to the latest versons without success. Also, cleaning the light engine (or any other part) does not fix this problem. If you cleaned your TV and your problem disappeared, you had a different problem.)
2) This repair requies a special tool from Panasonic. The tool is part number LSUQ0100. It is light grey in color, and is roughly 7" x 5" x 1" in size. It has diagnostic lights on it, and a button to press to start the procedure. This tool is used to reprogram your EEPROM. Again, this is VERY different than flash upgrading your firmware.
3) To repair the TV, the repairman must remove the lower back of the unit and plug the long, 5-wire connector (5 individual wires terminated to one female connector end - reminds you a bit of an old-style CD-ROM audio cable used in computers) into a male recepticle on the light engine.
4) The procedure takes roughly 6-7 minutes to complete. The TV remains on during the procedure (yeah, I was a bit surprised too). About mid-way through the procedure, your colored ball-shaped blotches will just on-screen progress bar, no bright flash, the spots just disappear in the blink of the eye.
5) CALL PANASONIC!!! They are standing behind these TVs, and are covering these in-home repairs free-of-charge - EVEN IF YOUR TV IS OUT OF WARRANTY. Mine was out of warranty by over a year. The Panasonic rep was very kind, but did explain that this is the only repair for these TVs that they will cover out of warranty, as it was a defect in the manufacture of the unit - all other repairs are at the expense of the customer.

Good luck to all - I hope this helps some of you!
Cheers to Panasonic for standing behind their products like don't see that very much these days!
