Protection Light My amp has a solid protection light.  I have tried disconnecting everything and reconnecting it.  Its not the wiring I have tested all the connection Power, Ground and Remote they all work.  I hooked the amp up directly to a test battery and ground connection and it still gives me the protection light.  Is there any way to reset the amp?? would that fix the problem or did i just break the dam thing and i need to buy a new one.  Either way I would be greatful for any help.

Re: Protection Light

This is almost always caused by shorted output transistors. To eliminate other possible problems do the following.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still shuts down (goes into protection), the amp likely has blown output transistors.

Generally, an amp with blown output transistors can be repaired.

Model cx600. Why is red protection light on?

The amplifier probably was being overdriven and went into protection mode to prevent the output stage(s) from getting smoked. The amp will have to be opened up to make repairs and get it working again.

I have 2 amps instalkled in my car one is sony 1200w 2 channel amp for speakers and one is solid audio f2500d for 3 subs my sound and every thing was good but suddenly from yesterday im having trouble when...

First disconnect the CD head unit from the sub amp and see if the other amp works. If yes, the problem is the wires to the amp, the amp itself, or the subs/sub wiring. If no, the problem is the head unit--probably an internal short.
If the other amp works with the sub amp disconnected, reconnect the sub amp to the head unit, but disconnect the sub wires from the amp. Try the CD player. If the amp goes to protect with no speaker wires attached, the amp is bad. If the amp is OK, the problem is the subs or sub wires. Hook the wires up to the amp again, but disconnect them from the speakers. Try the player again. If the amp goes to protect, the problem is the amp wiring. If not, the problem is the subs. Check the impedance of each sub using an ohmmeter to determine which amp is out of spec.

My protect light is on amp no go

disconnect the power wire from it for a minute then reconnect.

Make sure the speakers are wired to an ohm load the amp can handle to prevent protection mode again.

Red protection light wont turn 2 green no matter what so the amp wont work

Hello mcis43fan,

The protection circuit can be activated by shorted or grounded wiring or it can be caused by a defect in the amp itself.

First, disconnect all wires except power, ground and the remote turn-on lead and see if the amp powers up normally. If it still goes into protection, the amp is defective, most likely shorted outputs and needs repair or replacement. If the amp powers up normally, test the other wiring for shorts and grounds. You can reconnect them one at a time to determine which one is causing the problem.

Hope this helps.

FUC% the protection light

i had a similar problem with my amp (although a different brand). Check you ground connection and make sure it's not grounded to metal with paint covering it. This is NOT a solid ground connection. You must remove the paint then reconnect it. Without a solid connection to ground, it cant run for very long without going into protection mode. Hope this helps

Power Protection Light Will Not Switch Back to Green

Disconnect all speakers, then turn the amp on. If there is no internal problem with the amp, it will go green. If it does go green, reconnect your speakers one at a time with the amp off then turn it on. when you connect the speaker that's causing the problem, the amp will go into protection. At this point, it's one of two things, a bad speaker wire (screw thru it or touching another terminal) or a bad speaker(burnt voice coil) to test that wire, disconnect the wire at the speaker and turn on the amp, if it's still green, all's well in the wire department. Meter the speaker with a multimeter on resistance, if it's blown the meter will read 1.... If you don't have a meter, connect the speaker that's having the problem to the other channel and test again, if it goes into protection, you've got your answer. Bad speaker. Hope this helps

Disconnect the speaker wires and the RCA cables from the amp. If the protection light still comes on, the output transistors have likely failed.

was the amp hooked directly to the box? You probably rattled the power connections from the circuit board like I did on a PT 800 watt amp.but check amp fuses first.

My amp quit working

ok I thought I anwered this one but first thing to try is disconnect all your speakers and see if the light goes out if it doesnt then your gonna need a schematic and a working know how on solid state amplifiers. first check al the outputs for the speakers for dc If theres dc on an output then that output device is shorted or leaky. Ive have open drivers as well as current control transistors leaky or shorted to that made the protection come on.. Good Luck
