I have a convergence problem and need to replace the fuse marked
ta400ma. Where can I purchase one of these? Also what causes that to go
out? I jumped the fuse and the "auto convergence" came back in the menu
and everthing looks great. So I assume that was the issue, but now need
a permenate fix (new fuse).
If your screen is non-converged and bowing in the middle. As well as
the "auto convergence" option is missing on the menu this may also be

Re: RCA hd53w59 fuse needed
It is just a 400 milliamp fuse so any of that value will work. Check the connections on all pins of the high voltage transformer as most commonly on the RCA's have loose connections that will cause the fuse to open.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This DLP model RCA tv have convergence menu disappearing is very easy to fix just replaced the convergence fuse FL 231 near the FBT also must be resoldering FBT too.U can buy this FL231 covergence fuse at Ebay.com.No,but u must have to have a soldering iron,a desoring pump or desoldering braids and know how to basic soldering? To replaced this FL231 convergence fuse near the FBT and also must resodering the FBT too for protecting the new FL231 convergence fuse.
RCA, CRT Projection TV, ITC222 chassis Faults - models D52W.., D40W.., D56W.., D61W.. ·Symptom: No Convergence, Picture is bowed and distorted, colors don’t align.
The Fuse for the convergence power supply has blown You'll also notice that the convergence settings have disappeared from the on screen menu. The fuse likely blew because of a fault on the convergence board. If you've never done soldering or dismantled a TV before this is probably not the best place to start. The back cover needs to be removed and the fuse (see picture) identified, the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over and the fuse checked/replaced. You need a soldering iron and solder ****** or solder wick and a multi-meter to check the fuse. If you want to tackle it yourself see attached image for reference or get a quote from a repair shop (approx $200-$300 Total) the convergence board may also need repair.
Symptom: Dead Set- TV Tries to Start or intermittent dead.
The set could be in shut down mode due to a fault detected in the power supply, vertical or horizontal deflection circuits. The common problems with this chassis that will cause a dead set or intermittent dead set symptom are, bad power supply capacitors, bad flyback, bad HV cap in horizontal output circuit and cold solders (on opposite side of board) especially under the flyback area. To gain access to replace any of these parts the back cover needs to be removed and the deflection/power supply board needs to be unplugged (label or mark all connectors beforehand) and flipped over. These are only the most common problems and it could be any number of other faults. If you have electronic (TV) repair experience check the items mentioned (see picture), otherwise it's best to seek a qualified RCA tech for an estimate/service call. ·Symptom: Erratic operation of set – turns off by self, the volume or channel changes by self or on screen menu appears intermittently. Switches on the front panel assembly (FPA) problem. What happens with this model is the FPA switches (one or more) start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to initiate erratic commands. The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disassembly. Note: The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested. Hope this helped, johnnydiode, Fixya.
You cannot replace it yourself sir because there are a lot of adjustments(electronically not mechanical) and you need an equipment to transfer the data from the old EEPROM to the new one. If the convergence is fine then the fuse should be ok..Picture is blurry??? 1. could be a dusty CRT lens, you can clean those 3 lenses by taking off the front speaker grill then there's a small hole that you can see the lenses... or the mirror needs to be cleaned also. 2. maybe it needs a convergence alignment, pls check your owner's manual if available. thanks:)
Yes, but before powering the set back on you must fix the original issue that caused it to open. The high voltage transformer location LL008 will need to be un-soldered and all pins and pads cleaned. Then re solder the pins to the pads with solder. The original solder was lead free but it tended to crack after it heated up thus causing the intermittent connection and then opening the 400ma fuse to the convergence panel. The fuse is no longer available, but I have included a link to be able to purchase it on ebay. Make sure you ONLY use the size fuse needed as anything higher could be a fire hazard. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks...
the only info you need is to replace the middle chemical fuse next to the flyback, I believe it`s marked "231" on most sets and then the critical parts is to re-solder ALL of the pins on the flyback transformer, 9,10,11 are usually cracked big time but you need to solder all of them, I`ve done this 50 times and never had a call back, gl, video-tek
fl231 is the convergence fuse, and is soldered to the board in proximity of the convergence ICS, on RCA rear projection TVs.
If fl231 has blown, TV usually does not turn on at al, if you get bowed picture, that means that the convergence ICs must be replaced.
The fuse is on the same board where you find convergence ICs, if the fuse had blown, or the pico fuses at the base of the STK convergence ics had blown, the STKs must be replaced. There is need of purchasing the service manual to do the job.
OK those are the correct fuses one in middle does cause lost of convergence FL231,recheck second ribbon connector, make sure it is in correctly also ck cp 150 it will be a green and gold writing on capacitor 2200uf 16v ,see if it is bubbled on top if so replace it and 2 other caps 220uf 35v,what you are saying about it waving could be a big capacitor on small AC board where ac fuse and cord plugs into ck them .Let me know if you need more help . Resolder all connection pinns on flyback.
you have a fusible link that has blown. This is what causes the convergence option no be erased from the menu. You will need to locate the blown link and replace it. They are identified by FLpreceeding the location number on the circuit board such FL221 and etc.
you need to replace chemical type fuse marked FL231 part number 259213, it`s located next to the flyback transformer, theres 3 of them there but 231 is the only one I`ve seen cause your problem, replace it and you`ll be all set.Happy Holidays !
