  • crazybandit Jun 22, 2008

exactly same thing happened to us tonight it will not reset f10 and f30 errors and stove will not unlock? need help!

  • kkris Jun 29, 2008

Same thing to us. Stove top works. Overn does not. F30 error. Shut off breaker, power, etc. Nothing.

  • Anonymous Jul 07, 2008

I was self cleaning my kenmore elite slide in oven and received an error along with beeping just prior to the cleaning cycle ending. The error code was F30. The oven remains locked. Has anyone determned why this error code occurred and is there a fix for this problem. My concern is that the oven will catch on fire due to the extreme heat generated during the cleaning process. A concerned consumer.

  • joobers Aug 25, 2008

Same problem. Was self-cleaning the oven today and near the end of the cycle I noted an F10 error. Pressed Stop but the error came back on again. Also noted an F30 error at one point. The oven has been unplugged for over an hour but, upon plugging in again, is still flashing the same error and beeping and the door is still locked and the fan on. This is a Kenmore Elite electric range 790.4670 that we bought just over 1 year ago. This is only the second time self-cleaning. Help!

  • mellie_403 Nov 09, 2008

Same thing happened to be...Electrolux range. It has not been working since self cleaning, It read F30, the door will not unlock and I can't get it to work. Tried the breaker as well but, nothing. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

  • bunchofhalls Nov 16, 2008

During self-cleaning cycle, lost power. When power was restored, door was locked, F30 Error code appeared. Range top does not work. Tried clearing as per the manula instructions, holding the clear button for 3 seconds until getting the 3 beeps. Still locked. Unplugged the power source - still locked. Understand that the F30 code is a sensor issue?

Stove is less than a year old.

  • wfc1m Nov 21, 2008

Stove works, oven doesn't, clock won't reset. This occurred after my wife was making pancakes with a griddle on the stovetop. The griddle was on the right front AND back burners. We had company and she was making alot so the burners were on for an extended period of time. Stop top still fine, oven won't work and flashes an F-30 code.

  • jtang Nov 30, 2008

I have a Kenmore Elite 790.4671 Stainless Slide-in Electric Range. Only six months old. Yesterday was the FIRST time we used the self cleaning function.

About 2hrs into the self cleaning, the oven started to beep with F30 error code. Could not reset by pushing the "stop" button. The beep would come back with F10 error code. Even if I turned off the oven at the circuit breaker, the beep and the error code F30 or F10 would come back after the circuit breaker was reset.

Now, 24 hours later, the oven door is still locked with the same beep and error code, if the oven is powered up. The flat cook top is also NOT working... Very frustrating.

  • ggallen678 Dec 09, 2008

I pretty much have the same problem as others.  I keep getting an f10 error and the beep is constant.  We have had to pull the plug.  Everything  was being burned up while cooking.

  • Teresa Akers Dec 26, 2008

I have the same problem listed above with my Kenmore Elite range. This is the 2nd time in two years. First one was covered by warranty, the coast would have $400.00. Hoping for a cheaper answer this time! Has anyone tried the fix listed by wrentched4one.
    Thanks,
    T

  • malts2 Dec 27, 2008

same problem, FP and then F30error. 2 mo out of warrenty. Guy is here right now trying to fix it, has my entire stove torn apart. My fear is, he is going to say "can't be fixed". I'll HIT the roof.

Anyone know if there is any recourse for this? I mean, should Sears be held responsible for a product this is "faulty"?

  • deer09 Jan 03, 2009

We have the 30 inch slide in oven Kennmore Elite and we had the exact same problem. Two hours into the cleaning cycle we got error code 30 then 10 --error code would not stop and could not be reset. We popped the breaker and read the solution listed below. After the oven had cooled off we tried the solution and it worked. Thanks

  • garner35068 Jan 26, 2009

We have the Kenmore Elite model 790.46609501. We are getting an error F 30 when we try to turn on the oven. Stove top works great, but the oven doesn't. Can anyone help? I can't find my owners manual :(

  • Anonymous Mar 01, 2009

I was cleaning my oven and the error occurred. The beeping is driving me crazy. It won't stop. I get a F10 error. I finally threw the breaker and will let the oven cool down. I certainly hope that solves the problem. Otherwise, I like my stove.

  • emitchell29 Apr 04, 2009

We have the same problem - stovetop works, oven screams F30 and shuts itself down. We've disassembled the stove and cannot locate reset button at all...has anyone been ablr to resolve the problem yet?

  • Anonymous May 05, 2009

Wow, what do you know. I have the same problem with my Kemore elite electric slide-in. (model 790.46703605). It is 1 1/2 yrs old. 1 hr into self clean- F 10. Shut off breaker overnight and did not solve the problem. I will try the reset buttons. Sounds like another profit center for Sears. Class action lawsuit anyone?

  • Anonymous May 21, 2009

My Kenmore oven is pulling a F30 code after we use the oven.

  • Kathy Dobbs Sep 13, 2012

I also have a Kenmore Elite Electric Range and am getting the F30 error. I removed the back panel and pushed the reset button. I also read that the issue may be with the termal sensor so I ordered a new one from sears. After installing the new thermal sensor, I'm still getting the error. What's next?

  • Kathy Dobbs Sep 14, 2012

I have the same issue. Oven doesn't work but stove does. Getting the F30 error when trying to bake, broil, etc. I tried the recommended reset switch on the back of the oven with no luck. Looked for a reset switch beneath the control panel and I didn't have one. I finally ordered/installed a new termal sensor and it didn't work. What next?

I had the same F30 error problem but fixed it. On my professional series Frigidaire, there are 2 resettable red button locations. I discovered that only one is in the rear of the oven. After going to the breaker box and shutting off the power, pull out the stove enough to work, unscrew the rear screws (I didn't unscrew all of them, just enough to work back there). The small red button is on a small black round piece with two purple wires feeding to it. That was not my problem. Mine was the other red button behind the control panel. Pull off all 4 knobs, unscrew by hand the large black rings that are underneath the knobs, pull out the whole panel. Look back and right (below where the right knobs were located) to find the 2nd red small button. Push to reset. Check this one first since it is easier to do.

Yes this also worked for me reset the red button in the circuit breaker on the right hand side under the controll panel you nead to remove the tin cover that is under the control panel to get at it

  • gtfreaky Oct 10, 2010

this also worked for me. I was able to reset this little red switch and my electric range: Kenmore Elite 790.46612501. Thank you sellingdj. You saved me some $$. I would have called Sears to come fix it.

  • Toyia Turner Dec 05, 2011

Thank you so much sellingdj. I was really getting worried that I was not going to have a oven to bake with for the holidays. With Christmas right around the corner, calling a repair man was not an option. I knew about the reset on the back but had no idea there was a second one. Now I know. Thanks a bunch.

I came across this same problem when using the self clean. First F30 then F10 error code. The problem is a sensor switch which is accessible from the back after sheet metal cover is removed. Looking from the back it was located on the upper right with 2 wires connected to it and a red button in the center. Do all this with power breaker OFF! Push in the red button which resets switch and everything will work until you use the self clean again. Easy to replace switch and you can order new one here http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3874781&pn_=318005212. It cost $10.00 plus handling about $16.00.

Well , for the problem that occurred after the cleaning cycle, the dreaded "F30 then F10" codes ,heres what I found. I removed the heating probe from inside the oven (breaker turned off) and tested the resistance across it. Around 1100 ohms at room temp and that is what my probe showed. Next I tested the continuity from the purple wires at the probe to the other end at the EOC. BTW ,they are the only purple wires at the EOC. There should be zero resistance from one end to the other. One of them was good , one of the was open.So after much heartache....I tore the back of my island apart to see why the wire was testing open. There was in fact a temp. sensor of some type w/a reset button in it that was inline with the temp. probe . I simply reset it and VIOLA!!!! I had been told by Sears and other sites to replace the EOC. FYI.....there ought to be a class action suit against the idiots at sears and kenmore. $2200.00 stove and cant use the self clean again....BS!!!!!

The solution just provided by sellingdj, posted on 2/17, worked for me. I tried all the others even ordering part for $100. After one year of being without an oven (hooked up my old one in basement), all I had to do was remove the front panel (by removing knobs and black rings), resetting red button. IT WORKED!!!

Thank you so much!!

PS - MAKE SURE YOU POWER OFF BREAKER.

thanks. Because of this website, I was able to fix my kenmore Elite. I can't find the specific recomendation, but it suggested that I replace the "controller" and the "temp probe". The controller is accessed by removing the top burner dials and small black plastic nuts, the glass front lifts off exposiing the controller, 4 screws removes it, then very carefully transfer wires from old controller to new. Olde controller had a burn spot and disintergrated transister/diode? Cost for both parts was about 200.00 dollars. Oven working again...don't forget to unpug stove. Thanks again!

We have a kenmore elite electric range slide in model 790.4670. It's about 2 years old. We ran the first self clean and it locked up on us about 1/2 thru the cycle. The reset code in the manual did not work. The oven door locked, the fan contnuously ran ;it would not shut off, and it contined to flash the error codes f30 and f10, AND THE BEEPING would not stop!!!! The glass top also would not work. The burners would not come on.

Please SHUT OFF your breaker to stop electricity power to the oven.

WE took apart the front panel was suggested, - (remove knobs and rings) there was no reset button for our model. We took the back panel off. You will see the purple wires going down to connect to a little round black sensor. it has a little red reset (elongated) button that comes out of the middle of it, it is about 3/16 in diameter. You can use a screwdriver to press it in very gently in the middle. You should here a click or pop sound. Then turn your breaker back on to see if your door will unlock and turn on knobs to make sure your burn isles will turn on. We had Sucess. NEXT, TURN OFF the breaker again and reinstall metal back panel. TURN BREAKER BACK ON. We hope that you too are back in business!!!!

Wow, I'm sure glad I found this site. I also got an error while using my oven. The error would only go off if it passed 375 and also when I try to do the oven cleaning I got an error F30. So after reading all of the comments I decided to take the back panel off, saw the two purple wires that connect to a white wire but it was clear that the connection of the two was touching the metal clips from the oven light, and the clips get very hot. So it was clear that is was causing the wires to get hot, making the error go off. I moved all the wires away from all components that could get hot from the oven. Turned oven cleaner back on, wow amazing no more error. I'm not sure what is wrong with Kenmore with wiring, but I will never buy another Kenmore again. Reason, 6 months ago my house fire alarms went off, thank goodness I was home! Called the fire department and it took them 5 mins to find out were all the smoke was coming from. Take a good guess! My Kenmore refrigerator was having an electrical fire. Thanks Kenmore for almost burning down my house.

The stove is overheating. I bet your appliance is against the wall and the air circulation in the back is limited. After you reset the red button, try pulling the oven from the wall when you use the oven cleaner (usually when the oven gets really hot).

Looks like an error at the eoc! start by replacing that board there may also be a situation in the temperature probe or thermal limit too

Posted on Oct 01, 2010

  • patricksherr Oct 22, 2010

F30 generally means a "runaway" code for these ranges. The timer, uib (user interface board) has detected an issue with the sensors. Thermal cutout is a deffinite possibility, and replacement is recommended. They are mostly resetable but the failure is likely to happen again. The limit switch has hit an overtemp situation and the oven will remain locked and non functional until the limit is reset or changed. There are between 1 to 3 limits in the back.

We also have had the exact same problem today...2nd time we have used the self clean function, have had our stove for less than 2 years...and we too received an F30 and then an F10 error with constant beeping....readingall of the above comments I am furious! This is ridiculous, I am so angry with Kenmore and Sears....this stove should be recalled! Today their answer to me was we can book a technician to come out for service (NO WAY, that will cost me an unnecessary fotune)...we tried the solution listed on this sight and we are very grateful...THANK YOU! No thanks to Kenmore....however I will make a phone call this week to explain my frustration and demand something to be done before I attempt to clean my oven once again!

I have a Kenmore Elite Model # 790.46703606 drop in range. My self cleaning cycle does not work. I pushed the flex clean, 200 and pressed start. Door Locked flashed for several seconds then the F30 ERR code flashed on. Of course flipping the circuit breaker does not work. I've pulled the knobs off and the black rings and removed the control panel. I still do not see a red reset button under the control panel. Anyone have any ideas as to where else to check besides the rear of the range ?

F30 error on kenmore elite electric stove

F30 - Open Probe connections

F31 - Shorted Probe connections

Suggested Corrective Action
1. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature & compare to *RTD Sensor resistance chart. If resistance does not match the RTD chart replace RTD Sensor Probe. Check Sensor wiring harness between EOC & Sensor Probe connector.

2. (F30 or F31) Check resistance at room temperature, if less than 500 ohms, replace *RTD Sensor Probe. Check for shorted Sensor Probe harness between EOC & Probe connector.

Hope this helps (remember to rate this free answer).

Range made by Frigidaire, cannot pull up info right now for that F30 code, just the F3 which means something is wrong in the sensor circuit, sensor, wiring harness or the EOC/clock...what does your tech sheet tell us this F30 means??? What was the ohm reading on the old sensor.....if changing this did not solve the problem about down to checking the wiring harness, if it is ok back to the clock causing the problem if the F30 pertains to the sensor circuit failure....

Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacment of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)

Kenmore Elite made by Frigidaire 30" slide in electric range model # 790.46603501 shows F30 ERR. Oven will not work. Range top is fine. Help!!! Turkey to cook!! Lynne

The F30 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board detects an "open" oven temperature sensor probe circuit.
This is usually caused by a failed oven temperature sensor probe.

Replacing this component will likely fix your problem.

You can order this part from www.searspartsdirect.com website.

If you replace this part yourself, be sure that you unplug the range to disconnect electrical power before accessing this component.

On some models, you can replace the probe by removing the screws that mount this component to the inside back wall of the oven.
Carefully pull the probe inside the oven cavity until you encounter the wire harness disconnect plug.
Unplug the sensor and replace it with the new one. Mount the new probe on the back wall of the oven.

On some models, you have to remove the lower back oven panel to access the sensor probe.

If you replace the probe and still have this problem, you will need to unplug the range and measure the resistance through the violet wires that plug into the control board (this is where the sensor probe circuit is connected to the control board).
If the resistance through the oven temperature sensor probe circuit is normal (about 1100 ohms at room temperature) then the electronic oven control board will need to be replaced.
