Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
First thing I would do is make sure the keys aren't stuck, a little canned compressed air blown underneath is good to clear out any debris that may be stuck under the keys, as long as you haven't had any spills recently you shouldn't have any problems, however sometimes keyboards do short and this could be the problem, but without a visual diagnosis, it would be hard to say.

Press the lefts soft key
Scroll down to the message you want (even though you can't see, take a quess)
Press the right soft key
Press Right soft key then 1 to go to your contacts (type in the name, press done then the left soft key)
To send to your email, press the left soft key, press 2 then enter in the address.
Clicking 1 twice gives you the @ sign and clicking 1 once will give you a .
You're phone guide gives you most of this information. I'm having the same problem, except my key pad is a bit messed up as well, makes it more difficult for me.
