Dvd cdrom cannot be accessed
Can you provide more information? Does the cd eject when you push the button? Does it act like it is going to read or does it act completely dead? If the disc acts like it is going to read and it still ejects when you push the button, then there is a possiblity that you could have a Copy Protection program by Sony on your computer. Sony had released a few cd's that when played in the computer would install software that would end up disabling the drive. You can test this by putting a windows disc, or some other bootable disc into your computer and trying to start up, if you computer starts up I would grab some anti-malware programs like malware killer - http://finalbuilds.edskes.net/malwarekiller.htm and scan for spyware, virus, rootkits, etc.
I hope this helps.

I have an averatec 3200 series notebook, with a cd/dvd burner. There are two problems. The first is that about 90% of the time it appears to be in a read loop, repeating without end. No solution machine or manual seems to terminate this loop. Ultimately, I must turn the machine off and then open the drive manually. The drive will open and close with no problem w/o the disc inserted. The other problem is that when it does work and I try to use Nero, a plethora of error messages are produced and many times the machine locks up. The only solution for this seems to be to shut the machine down. Any ideas? Thank, ADH
