I bought a pack of 5 amp fuses at radio shack after showing the old one to salesperson. After replacing the fuse i plugged the set back in and noticed a bright flash from the fuse itself. After the third try with the same results i signed up for the service.

The fuse blew initally while i was viewing the set. I will check the cable.

Sorry i casn't answer swiftly since I've been sick and undergoing radiation treatments. The set was on and I heard a 'bink' noise and the picture quit. The fuse located near where the power cord attaches to the set was blown. I don't think the set is actually off. The cable trested ok with ohm meter. If I replace the fuse with a beefier one is there not a danger of further damage? Thanks.

I unplugged the on/off board plugged in the set the fufe did not blow but the picture is shaped like the "H" logo in Hilton Hotels. The picture dips in the middle on top and rises in the middle on the bottom. It(the picture) is concave not flat on the screen. Its kind of like the switch is half-on or half-off. Will changing the switch help? It looks like a job. Can I spray it with something? Standing by. Thanks.

So, when you turn your projector on the fuse pops in your house-electricty box or on your powerbar ?

or do you want to test if the fuse will pop if an overload would occur ?

The new fuses you got must not be able to handle the power, they were probably the wrong ones. unless theres something wrong with the power leading up to the fuses check the wires leading to it and check if there's no item that might've accidentally fallen in.

Does the fuse pop even when you have the TV off? If so, it's most likely it's a short in the power cord. Examine the cord closely, and see if there are any breaks in it. If you have a voltmeter, see if you're getting much resistance if you put one tip on each prong of the plug (while it's unplugged, of course). You should have infinite resistance, while the TV's off.

It could be something within the TV's power supply, but I think a damaged cord is more likely (and it's MUCH easier to fix, just cut the cord and splice a new one on). If you're sure it's not the cord, check it again... and if you're still sure, let me know and we can delve into the difficult things that are less likely, but possible, to be the cause.

Yes, there is a risk of damage to the set if you use a fuse rated higher than is recommended.

Also, the link smilemaker provided is written for a CRT television, not a rear projection television. The beginning of that document - explaining fuse replacement and checking for a short near the fuse, is useful. But once it gets into degaussing, the rest of the document doesn't apply to your set.

At this point it's sort of hit and miss. Electronically speaking, something is shorting somewhere or you wouldn't be blowing fuses. If the power cable is fine, you can try checking the bulb. Occasionally the filaments in those can fuse together when they go out, at least on some bulb designs. Again with the ohm meter, test for resistance on the bulb. If it's nearly none, replace it.

After that, your only real choice is to trace the circuit from the fuse back, looking for some location where it's shorted. That means a workout for your ohm meter, and it's not likely to be simple or quick, unless you get lucky and guess the right spot.

My vizio Model SV470M will not turn on the power indicator light is not on either.

First, are you capable to open and repair this?
Being a power issue, we work "out to in". Plugged in wall and Power is not out in the neighborhood are too obvious to ask. Sooo... next .. Once back cover is off, look for and test the fuse on the PSU (power board), also look at this PSU board and see if any caps (capacitors) are bulged or popped. Both of these will kill a board, and usually caused by cheap caps or power surges from the power grid. You can replace the fuse easy enough, but you need good soldering skills to do the caps, and a supplier for the new caps. REPLACE ALL CAPS, not just the obvious bad ones. Otherwise, replace the whole board. Since you mentioned a "No Power" issue, this should fix it. Transformers are not too easy to test, (trans may be "browned" IE: burnt) and chips.. forget it, for both, replace the board. Hope this helps

Parking lights and dash not working

Park lights and dash lights usually draw power from the same fuse. We had a problem recently when someone did not realize that there are fuses in the engine compartment as well as in the car. Pop the hood and check for a blown fuse.

Got swan sm2060R microwave. Plugged it in clock is set but no functions working

test the power outlet plug some lamp desk if work is o.k if NOT reset the c. breaker. follow this stepFirst check is the main fuse of the unit. On countertop units, you will need to take the shell off. The fuse will be close to where the cord comes through into the unit. OTR units, this main fuse is usually behind the control panel or possibly behind the vent. Usually the fuse is obvious if blown, otherwise test with an OHM meter, if open, replace fuse.
Some brands will also have a thermal cut-off fuse in the incoming voltage line to the control board. Older Maytags and Samsungs have this fuse in it. This thermostat looking fuse is usually above the oven cavity somewhere under the outside shell. Sometimes you can get to it through the vent of OTR models. Test with an OHM meter, replace if open.

Cannot turn on proform 380 cs treadmill

1) test the outlet wall with a desklamp, if the lamp turn On THE circuit is o.k otherwise, the problem is fuse blown or c. breaker tripped, reset or replace fuse.
2) test the power cord for open or faulty. with VOM usin continuity
3) test the fuse y/o c.breaker inside of machine and reset or replace.
4) Turn on the machine if the machine keep the same simpton, test the key(magnet) the key is a magnet, test vs your magnet from seal magnet of your refrigerator for atraction or repulsion, if doesnot pass the test replace the magnet from some hardware like home depot.
and PROOF again, can be work. see the block,
Otherwise if the problem keep you must call some tech profesional, maybe you have Main switch open or defective and need replace, or power supply, capacitor, transformer, etc defective. or faulty.
God bless you

Kenmordryer ,replaced heatelament cross teminals wiers turn on herd pop won;t turn on

first check for 240volts at the incoming power, then depending the kenmore number (as in who produced it for sears) if its a 110.xxxxxxxx its a whirlpool, then unplug it and remove 9 hex screws on the back and test the thermal fuse,it has 2 terminals and is 1" long by 1/4" wide and is white in color,it should show 0 ohms, otherwise bypass it for testing by jumping c(touching wires together) and plugging it back in,if it then heats replace this thermal fuse, make sure vents are clean and free of lint as this will overheat dryer and cause thermal fuse to open

Philips lists 3 models of your TV:
1) 50PFP5332D/37
2) 50PFP5332D/37B
3) 50PFP5332D/37E

User Manual for your TV (actually for the 50PFP5332D/37E):
http://download.p4c.philips.com/files/5/50pfp5332d_37e/50pfp5332d_37e_dfu_aen.pdf
The user manual doesn't document the logic board blink codes for errors.

What this tells me is that the TV went thru two revisions before reaching version E.
in case it helps: Philips Customer Support: 1-888-PHILIPS.
If they can't help otherwise, they can at least tell you if your set is eligible for warranty service.

R.h trailer plug has no out put? checked all fuses, all the signals on the truck are fine? just the trailer plug

Take the plug apart (small set screw on the side) and make sure one of the wires hasn't popped out. Take out the screw and slide off the cover to see.
You will need a mini screwdriver to re-tighten the brass terminal if its the case.
Have you tested this with a test lite?
Good luck.....

Hitachi 50GX30B 50 in. Rear Projection...tv won't turn on since electricity went off & on

I have worked on several of this model for power surge damage. Usually what I find is a blown fuse, a shorted regulator i.c. and possibly a blown bridge rectifier(diode array). On rare occasions you can solve this problem by replacing only the fuse, but if the fuse blows when you plug the set in, you will more than likely find above mentioned parts have failed. The best thing to do is to call a repairman but if you have an ohm meter you can test it yourself:1.Unplug set and remove rear cover.2.Get spotlight and look closely at where power cord connects to circuit board.Small glass fuse will appear black if open usually.Otherwise, test for continuity, or just replace it.3.After replacing fuse plug power cord back in while looking at fuse.If you see an instant flash, fuse blew again meaning you will need to obtain parts in power supply and solder work will be required. That is probably as far as I can take this other than saying that you might first want to look at underside of circuit board to determine if major surge damage has occurred. If it has you will immediately know because it will have burn marks all around a/c power supply. I hope this helps, Russmann.
