Same as above. In fact, the radio drains the battery but does not power up.

Radio works but face plate shows nothing

You have two possibilities. You can try cleaning the contacts on the back of the radio and on the subpanel with qtips and rubbing alcohol or a pencil eraser. If that doesn't work, you may have bad solder connections on some surface mount resistors inside of the radio. If you are good at soldering they should be on the right front of the radio, you will have to remove the cd mechanism to get to them.

JVC KD -S680 needs help

maybe short circuit or similiar problem inside since its geting hot, probably not a problem with the faceplate I would remove the cd player from your car and take it to a professional for a diagnosis / repair estimate. Can't solve this one with text only.

Bought a cobra lx le from sparkys cb shack. using the radio as a base station. with the radio turned off , when i turn the power supply on a pyramid ps-7kx the radio face plate lights up for a couple of...

This is normal for the LXLE's. The new circuitry power the new face plate uses a small high voltage transformer and if power is applied to the receptacle on the radio it is drawing some current. When the power supply is turned off or on with the on/off switch on the LXLE turned off there is still a spike of current going through the radio. Not to worry, it will hurt nothing. If this is truly a problem, someone could probably design a little diode circuit to stop this issue. I would if I could but am not that smart.

XHD6430 radio not fully powering on.

I had this same problem with this same deck, in addition to my sound going out for periods at a time. I solved the red light no-nothing else going on issue by pressing and holding the reset button for 5-10 seconds (on the unit, bottom left side - have to remove the removable face piece). Kind of frustrating still though, because every time I do that, I have to reset all my presets again. I had good luck with this deck in the begining, and now not so much. Customer Service from DualAV/Namsung is terrible - I don't think I would buy another deck from their company.

I have an 03 suburban that I'm trying to wire a jvc radio however there is no sound coming from the speakers it seems as if they are not grounded even though I hooked them up according to the harness I...

I am sorry to have to tell you this but it is almost a certainty that the radio has blown outputs. These radios are very sensitve to reverse polarity and other miswiring issues. If power was applied to the wrong wire for just a second you can smoke the radio. You can try pop testing your spkrs., to see if they are good, get a small, or cheap ohmeter or continuity tester, disconnect each spkr and put the ohmeter (set at ohms, Rx 1) leads , one lead on each spkr. terminal and you should hear a little pop or scratch. If you do ,that spkr is good. If spkrs all good and have pwr to radio, probably have blown radio.

1998 beetle radio buttons

The face plate buttons actually activate small buttons on a printed circuit board behind the face plate. When I removed the radio and then the face plate many small pieces of plastic fell from behind the face plate. These small plastic pieces align the face plate button to the printed circuit board buttons. My Beeetle is almost 10 1/2 years old so I imagine the plastic is just becoming brittle with age. I could not set the radio to FM, so I removed the face plate button and now slide a toothpick in the slot to toggle between FM1 & FM2. Not he best solution, but probably the most inexpensive one. I also made my on tool to remove the radio from a diagram found at: http://www.alientech.net/nbinfo/stereo.html

JVC KD -S680 needs help

all radios like your has two power inlets one is battery and the other is Acc or Ing. The battery line keeps power in the radio after you turn off your car both lines must work for the radio to turn on it sounds like a resister burn out thats why your face plate was warm.
