Question about Frigidaire GLMB209D Microwave Oven

No Power to Jenn-Air Microwave JMC8130DDS

We have a built in Jenn-Air microwave and convection oven. The microwave is on top. The units are 2 and a half years old.

My wife ran the self cleaning feature on the oven for the first time on 12/24 and midway through the cleaning cycle, we noticed there was no power to the microwave. Just what we wanted with 35 people coming over the next day.

We have tried turning the house circuit breaker off for extended periods of time but the microwave still has no power. There's no doubt in my mind that the problem was caused somehow by the self cleaning feature of the convection oven but Jenn-Air is playing dumb and offers no other suggestions but to contact an authorized service repair rep.

I can't find any diagrams indicating where there is a reset switch on the back or where the fuse is located. I'd rather take care of this problem myself if it's that easy to fix. Otherwise, I will contact a service rep and the CEO of Whirlpool Corporation for reimbursement.

Please help if you can. Thanks and Happy Holidays!

The solution was simple and mentioned by another person. The microwave plugs into an outlet within the wall oven that has a circuit breaker. For whatever reason, the self cleaning feature tripped the outlet's circuit breaker which cut power to the microwave. All that had to be done was reset the circuit breaker.

Why Jenn-Air/Whirlpool customer support will not disclose this information is beyond me. I'll never purchase another one of their products if they do not reimburse me for the service call.

We are experiencing the same issue, a day after self-clean. We pulled out the oven(s); and found that, as described, the m/w is plugged into the top of the oven and there is a reset switch (which in our case doesn't actually move). The m/w oven still did not work when plugged into a live socket, so the oven outlet is not the issue. We removed the cover (which included 2 special screws that aren't supposed to come out), tested and replaced the fuse. It immediately blew again when started, and again with the 2nd replacement fuse. Something else is wrong, no solution yet.

I just had the same problem. Our unit is about 5 years old. I was running the self-cleaning mode, and put something to heat in the microwave. It heated at first, then all power to microwave went out. I read the above description and we pulled the entire unit out, and there was a reset switch on top of the oven. Pushed it and the microwave was back in business. I would have been very upset if I had called a service man and he spent 5 minutes, just as we did, to pull it out and reset the circuit. We turned all power off prior to pulling out the unit. It seems JennAir should admit this is an innate design flaw and offer some sort of compensation or come up with a repair kit to fix this issue....

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. It looks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.

Manual for jenn air microwave jmc8130dds

Like most manufacturers these days, Jenn-Air offers manuals online. I did not see specific instructions for removing the panel, but here is a link to the parts diagram which may offer some hints. You can also call or chat online with Jenn-Air Customer Care.

Remove front panel from a jenn air microwave

I do not have that microwave, but the documentation that came with it may include a parts diagram that will provide a hint as to whether there is another piece holding it. Jenn-Air's support page for that unit may have more information. Failing that you might call their support , or their support site may have instant chat. Sorry I can't help specifically, but these are some avenues that have worked for me

Jmc8130dds microwave died. any thoughts. previously numerous messages about locking the screen on its own.

I think it is time to replace the microwave oven, the fuse has blown and there are numerous reasons why, shorted power transformer, shorted filament winding in the magnetron, cracked high voltage diode with a high level short, and a shorted high voltage capacitor, not to mention issues with the keypad and microprocessor control board.

Jenn-air microwave dead

I'm afraid since Jenn Air has become a division of Whirlpool (along with numerous others) the quality has suffered.
I was going to suggest that you purchase a service manual for your unit so you could 'reset' it yourself. Service manuals can cost from $12-$40 US and in many cases obviate the need for 'professional' service calls. However, I couldn't find one offered for your model number so your only choices are to continue to pay for 'service' or examine the guts visually to see if you can locate any reset feature. This is what I would do.
When microwaves fail, older ones generally need a diode, a big capacitor or the magnetron replaced. Newer units are suffering power supply failures as many have moved from the reliable but less efficient 'linear' power supplies to 'switched mode' types that are more efficient but more complex and prone to failure. These later types usually have the word 'inverter' in the model description.
