HP Compaq Presario V2000 PC Lock-up

Go to this link that is for your PC.

Select "Troubleshooting"
Type in or copy/paste your PC - Compaq Presario CQ61 (Look for the US version)
Then type in your problem at - "Key Word or Questions" Caps Lock Light Blinks


Follow instructions from HP Site that basically say shut it down, remove a/c, remove battery, press power button for 30 seconds. disconnect all usb and other connected devices. then insert battery and turn on.

If you are able to, boot your pc to safe mode, delete the user password and reboot your system.

Go to the below link and select your laptop model from the 3

Click the correct link of your computer, in the next page select dyour operating system that is windows vista, if there is no vista there then the driver for vista is not released by hp,if i am right there are drivers for 2nd and 3rd but not the first.

After selecting the operating system click next and select the link to driver-audio and click download

Hi there before use those key you have to disable the numlock key first. Press FN hold & press ( Numlk ) blue marked key. You will see then the numlock light will goes off. Its mean that deactive now.

That is for Key Lock. Go ahead and press fn +F6 and then open notepad and see what happens. Some of your keys won't work and some will type in other letters than the one you pushed.

run system restore to factory defauly.

start computer holding down the f11 key till it beeps. then follow the prompt. remember to backup documents.

Remove the battery. Plug power cord in. Turn on machine. Does it boot? Replace battery.

link to V2000 support page, you select which series, click on it then select which operating system you are using.

there is someting loose inside the computer so you may have to open it and check for loose conections or pices that they may be loose or video conectors

Try External USB keyboard - If that works -
remove usb kb

Open the chassis and reseat the kb connector. Try again.

If that fixes it, you're set. If not replace the kb.
