Question about Bose 3·2·1 II System

1 Answer

DVD Issues I have two bose 3-2-1's. Playing a new disk on one of them, it froze up on Chapter 14. Took Disk out, it was hot, put it back in went to same chapter FROZE. Took it upstairs to the new 3-2-1 again chapter 14 froze. Got BOSE on the line, when through rebooting, same thing on both. Bose is now sending me two new units. I went to the store bought another DVD same one, thinking it might be a DVD issue. Did the same think IT WORKED, just stopped at that point for maybe 1/10th of a second. So now I am thinking it was the DVD. I have had intermittent DVD freeze up, but that could be the DVD....

Unsupported format read cd dvd when it read if before?

Sometimes cleaning the disk will solve the problem. Also resetting the system by pulling the power cord and putting it back in can solve the problem. If this does not help, then sometimes updating the system with the latest software can help. Just call Bose and ask for an update disk. Last but not least if nothing works, send the unit to Bose for repair.

Eject disk

If your cd is stuck in the Bose you may have to open up the cover any manually remove this disk, make sure not to put it back in. If you are unable to remove this yourself you will need to get some one qualified to do this procedure for you. I have an older 3 2 1 system that will not play any dvd's. Says "Bad Disk". Always has been a little particular when it comes to playing dvd's but now it won't play any- new or rented. Any ideas?

Have you ever done a software upgrade? I have the same system and I had issues with certain disks. After a call to the BOSE tech support line, they sent me a software upgrade disk that took care of the issue. Worth a try.

DVD won't play

had the same issue, Bose 18 played no problem for 2.5 years and then started acting up.
sometimes power reset helped sometimes not.
finaly go tired of it and took the system apart.
Inside is little customized toshiba dvd ide drive set as master.
Same as in normal computer but with different front so works in Bose.
Took apart DVD and cleaned with the laser lens with windex.
Works perfectly now.

I took the long run. If somebody has dentist mirror and some precise tools maybe you can reach the lens without taking everything apart.
maybe somebody sells special disc for cleaning lenses?

I hope this helps.

Cd stuck for good in bose 3-2-1 (first edition)

This is an Update to my above problem:
I've managed at last to pry open - with a huge scredriver - the very sturdy black metal clasp that holds down the cd-dvd driver onto the shaft. Now I could lift it up, see the small frontal hole that manually frees the disk tray. I stuck in a pin and at last it opened!!
But... Allas....
I could see that the "captivated" disk had very deep "skid" mark on its playable side, as if sometihng was carving into it. The same carving happened to a new disk I inserted, although it played and ejected normally - only with strange machnical noises. I think that some of the plastic cogwheels that turn or eject the disk got loose. I stuck them in and now it works fine, but I lost confidence in the machine - fearing it may stuck again or ruin my disks.

Region free dvd

I found this elsewhere, no guarantees, don't have one,so...

1. Put in Wrong region disk
2. Wait for "Wrong disk message"
3. press on the remote
the Right button, then Up button, then Shuffle button, then Stop
button, then leave the Mute button pressed until the tray ejects and
goes back in.
