I just bought same DVDR and I had and intermittent power problem and at some times was no power at all, but when I did disconnect to bring it back to the store I notice that was an INTERMITTENT artifact, so I gave a call to the support center tel. number, that was showed on the case and I was told was no parts/switches to reset or anything else and I was advised to returned because it was defective, so I did and I got a second one of the same kind and its been working OK.

I also suddenly had no power to my MWRD10D6. It won't turn on. I took it apart and this is what I saw. The fuse is good. I did notice a large 200V capacitor with some white stuff on the bottom as a previous person posted about, but I belive it's ok and the white stoff is to secure it so it doesn't move (but I could be wrong). I completely disassembled and took out the whole board allowed me to see 2 IC's or resistors (sorry, not well educated here on the difference) that were blackened/burnt. I'm going to take a close up pic and desolder them and go to an electronics store and try to find replacements to solder back on.

The capacitor blew. You need to get that replaced. That little capacitor stores that electrice charge to power your unit on and timer programmings etc. Either get that fixed by yourself or call support line.

The remote is the Magnavox NA471UD . Amazon has the original remote from Funai here: . Amazon also has a third-party replacement remote here: . also has replacement remotes. The OEM version is here: . The third-party version is . Any universal remote that was programmed 6 months or more after the DVD recorder was released will probably have a code that activates most of the features on the unit.

I hope this helps.

No power at all on my magnavox mwr10D6

Brown outs can damage the power control board of a running product. It's likely that while the other devices that all were affected by the brown out made it through such a condition, your DVR probably did not. The good news is, there is typically a fuse that can be changed which may have blown. If you open the unit up, check the fuse first. If it looks okay, there is a set of capacitors (looks like tiny round cans, usually blue or black) If there is what looks like a weird papery appearance around the can(s), or the top of the cans are bulged or cracked, the capacitor(s) need to be replaced.

I bought a Magnavox 810H 160GB HDD/DVD recorder. It's a decent machine which worked perfectly for a few months, but now I can't get it to record to DVD. The HDD recording and playback functions work fine,...

Try switching it over to DVD . Because you may still have it on HDD when you put the disc in it may be that the unit is still thinking you are on HDD and don't recognise it as a disc just the hard drive

Magnovox MWR20V6 will not begin recording when it should.

This is more a work-around than a solution, as the unit is failing to function normally; however, having the identical problem I observed that the unit is failing to power on at 2:00 minutes before beginning recording, a necessary step to record to DVD.

My work-around is the following:

1) Set up the timer, inputting necessary date, time, etc. as normal. With the unit still powered on, start the timed recording mode by pressing timer set, as normal. You will see the red clock icon and the DVD logo iluminate on the VFD.

2) Press the Standby-On power button. This will power the unit on in VCR mode. You should at this time be unable to switch from VCR to DVD mode since the DVD is still in timer mode. LEAVE THE UNIT POWERED ON in this manner. The timer will function and the DVD will record normally.

I have no clue why my unit suddenly forgot how to power up on its own in order to record to DVD. If anyone has an answer for that one please post!

Tray will not open

My ILO was doing the same thing, then it stopped doing it. It then suddenly would not recognize any media. I opened up the case and found it is using a dvd lite-on recorder. I had this old pc laying around with a gigabyte dvd recorder in it. For a test, I unplugged the lite-on and plugged in the gigabyte recorder. On power up, it seemed to work fine. After recording 3 DVD's I modified the case to accept the hew recorder. ** problems since, its not pretty, but it was easy to get the unit functional again.

Dvd recorder problem - model CMWR10D6

Might be the PCA aka power calibration area portion of the lens that reads that might not be reading it. Here is a little bit more info on PCA.  Power Calibration Area of a recordable or rewritable disc that precedes lead-in and the PMA, where the optimum laser power level for writing can be determined by a recording drive
