Question about Jazz DV-179 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Memory First of all I found that the instruction manual wasn't very informative... it covered the basics but nothing on memory or if it needed to be charged before the first use. It just says to go ahead and turn it on so I assumed that meant it came charged? My main question is the box says that there is up to 9 hours recording on my jazz 179 camcorder and I was recording on christmas day and it said that the memory was full after not even 5 min.? I dont have a SD card but in the manual it says that this optional? do I need one of these cards to get the 9 hours of recording time?

Re: memory

Ok, here's the deal...

The '9 hours' of recording time is a bench mark only... The unit only comes with 64 MB of internal memory, and when you are recording in the highest resolution, (Mpeg4) mode, then it eats up the available space really fast. Keep in mind, that in high resolution video mode, as opposed to standard, you will eat up at least 64 in about 7 minutes, not 5.

I dropped a 512 MB SD card in the camcorder, and on high resolution video, you might get away with 45 minutes to and hour. The camcorder records in 640 by 480 resolution, which isn't bad, but certainly isn't in DVD quality either...

So, pick youself up a 2 GB SD card, and you will certainly get up to at least 5 hours in standard mode. Rule of thumb, 400 MB per hour in standard mode. But, if you also go into the camera mode and take high resolution photos, that will also eat up your available storage ability...

Any other questions, just let me know...

How do you get the pictures out of built in memory

You can use the Copy command in the playback menu to copy pictures from the internal memory to a memory card. The full details are in "[COPY]" in the "Advanced (Playback)" section of the advanced features manual (page 170 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download "Basic Operating Instructions" at
and "Operating Instruction for advanced features" at

I have a 26-IN-1 USB 2.0 Memory Card Reader device from DZ Tech (DigiZone Technology) I asked if there is a instruction manual for supported format applications CF ll, Microdrive, CompactFlash 1, Memory...

Look....what's so difficult about plugging a card into a card reader and then the USB into your computer? There's no instruction manual because that's all there is to it....why waste paper to explain that?typrice_150.jpg

The manual for your camera is found here:
In the right column, you can find a link to the pdf user's guide, below the catalogue. The manual is 100+ pages long, so you should have more than enough information.

Fuji f470 camera will not turn on. It was beeping and

Here are a couple of things that might be wrong. Your camera comes with what is called "internal memory" This is where your pictures will be stored if you don't have a XD card. One of the reasons your camera might be blinking is because that internal memory is full. If you don't have a XD card inserted in the slot that may be your problem. I would get your manual out and look up on how to transfer your photos from your camera to your computer or how to deleat them. I found this information on page 25 of the user manual for your camera. Page 31 shows how to erase the images. Hope this helps.

Easy way to use it.

Hopefully you've already learned the basics by trial and error now, but if you want to learn about the advanced functions which give you full creative control of this camera then you'll need to read the manual.

I found the manual to be clear, well-written and very easy to understand.
