Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop
The poor design of the power pin is a major source of problems on almost all laptops. Do a google search for power pin problems and you'll see what I mean.
Problem stems from jerking or tugging on the cable. Every laptop should come with a cable retention device to keep from damaging the fragile power pin.
This video has some pretty good information about it. . .

My boyfriend bought his acer aspire 3680 back in april 07. he went to take the power cable out and the dc component inside broke. we had it fixed at a local computer shop within 3 weeks (much cheaper at £60 than sending it away). the socket inside could not be fixed but was replaced with an extended cable with the connector on the outside.
sounds like the connector/jack has an ongoing problem. the laptop is now mine and i have no problems with the extra piece of cable.
