Re: How to connect YAMAHA DVR-S120 to computer

As long u`ve got audio out on ur Vaio (usually headphone mini jack on laptop`s) use stereo mini jack to RCA (both male plugs) extension cable. U may use video or vcr inputs on Yamaha. Be careful, when adjusting volume on ur Vaio - start from mid range & compare with other sources - DVD, TUNER etc. I`m not sure, but ur model got an optical SPDI/F audio output. In this case use toslink cable. Cheers

My dvr-s120 won't stay on

The problem is in the power supply, sometimes when a capacitor breaks down it leaves a slight bulge at the top causing shutdowns.

Yamaha dvr-s120 can not read dvd or cd. Drive is not spinning.

The CD motor could be faulty if you cannot hear any spinning noises from it from it loading or the lens could be faulty resulting in not enabling the dvd to register its prescence in the player to spin the disk.

I have no picture in the TV

I have 2 of these units and I had the same problem. There is a button on top right beside the one where you open and close the cd/dvd tray.It is marked memory on top and progressive on the bottom. You need to push this button one or two times and your picture will return.Someone may have pushed it by mistake. These are very good units and well worth whatever you paid for them.If you have more questions email me at Jack

DVR-S120 doesn't play any cd's

I have come across one DVR-S120 that has a shorted spindle motor. This is the motor that spins the disk. Therefor the unit will not play a cd or dvd. Yamaha sale's the complete dvd Assy. for $300 witch is absurd.

DVR doesn't read disc, says region doen't match

check the region of the new one probably it is region 4 made in china.your disc is a region one thats the reason why it cannot play on your new dvr which is a region 3 or 4.go on the web and see hw you can hack the code or burn a copy of that same disc.then try it in your new dvr.good luck
