Most often, this can be done in the BIOS. Restart the computer and press the key as shown on the enter to enter Setup. This can be F2, DEL or some other key. Once in the BIOS, browse to the categories, mostly under wireless or integrated devices, and look for an entry for Infrared (IR). From there, enable it, save your changes and exit the BIOS.
