If you are using an S Cable then it is either not securely fasened or there is a problem with the cable or pins. Make sure the cable is secure (moving it should bring color) or try another cable. If the problem continues you will need to replace the connector on the unit or TV one. Good Luck.

Black and white picture from blu ray player

Run the Blue Ray straight to the TV and see if the picture is still in black and white. If it is you know that your reciever is fine and the problem lies in the player or the TV. If the picture is normal then you probably have a bad HDMI IC that will need to be replaced.

My dvd's play in black & white. cant get any color in pitures.

Hello,

There are three types of display settings. 1 PAL, 2, NTSC and 3, Auto.

The pal and auto makes a display show color while the NTSC allow a display show in black and white but sometimes NTSC also shows color. It is possible that the display format on the movie is NTSC.

To fix this problem, play the movie that shows black and white. When the movie shows in black and white, press PAL/NTSC or P/N on the remote control and it should display in color.

Or Go to the player menu, check video or display setting, change it to Auto.

Problem should be fixed because that's where it lies....

But if it doesn't solve the problem, please let me know so that I may direct you further on what next to do.

I hope you understand the above.

Good luck.

I own a toshiba 19dv500 and am having trouble viewing a dvd, the system is working but only in black and white, no colour\???

Hello there,

A black and white picture is most often due to a faulty or incorrect RGB (red/green/blue) connection or cable.

If you are using a composite connection (red/white/yellow RCA jacks), you have probably connected the yellow plug to a socket labelled Pr/Pb, Cr/Cb, or Y - on either the DVD player or the TV - most probably the TV. The yellow needs to be connected to a socket labelled "VIDEO". If you connect this to any socket labelled Pr/Pb, Cr/Cb, or Y, you will get a black and white picture.

If you are using a component connection (red/green/blue RCA jacks), one of the plugs is either not fully inserted into the socket or is in the wrong socket. If you remove any one of the R/G/B plugs, you will get a black and white picture.

If you are using a SCART cable (UK / AUS), you may have a bent, damaged or disconnected pin.

I suggest you check and correct the connections between your DVD player and TV. If you are unable to locate the problem, please try another cable as the one you are using may be damaged. If you are still unable to locate the fault, please let me know the brand and model number of the DVD player and how it is connected to the TV. If required, I can also draw a diagram showing the correct connections.

It would also be useful to know whether this "fault" suddenly occured, or whether you have just connected the player to the TV.

Hope this helps - please let me know if you need further assistance.

Regards,
BElectric
