I have the same problem the screen reads "Please wait" and the PSP will not turn off.

My Hubby's PSP , the slim model, is doing the same thing. It says "Please wait", it won't shut off, you can hear a noise like the it is trying to read the disk. My son says it continues to make the noise even when he takes the disk out. My son said he took the battery out and replaces it then it still does it. He said it started when he tried to go to set up his draft (basketball) and the game froze up. He tried going home and exiting the game and it has stayed in the please wait or screen saver black screen ever since. Any suggestions?

Hello sir..or who it may concern........while playing my psp or while going to my home page it suddenly goes to most left and then i cant go anywhere it stays right there.please tell me what to do...

I would suggest restarting the system. Shut down the PSP, remove the battery, let it stand for a minute or so, put the battery back in place, start up the PSP. When the PSP is starting, do NOT touch anything. Moving the control could cause the PSP to assume that moved position is the neutral base position. If this does not fix it, contact Sony directly.

Laptop will not recognize psp

Hi lawolf77,

If your laptop wont recognize your PSP there might be a connection problem between the two. So you need to check what's causing the problem. There are several ways to check if PSP and your computer are properly connected, one good example is by checking the connectors and the device setting.

If you want to check some configuration on how to connect your PSP to your PC please try to follow these steps:

1. First, connect your PSP to your PC using a usb cable.
- please make sure both ends are properly intact.

2. Using the left and right directional button find "Setting", then scroll down or up to find the "USB CONNECTION".

3. USB CONNECTION will display after you pressed the x button.

4. Please wait until computer detects the USB connection. After that it will show the drive for your PSP. usually F: or G:

5. Click on your PSP drive letter.

6. Now you can determine if your PC recognizes the PSP, just access the root folder and try to put some files on it.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

there is a firmware problem, or, in worst case, its bricked.
basically, the psp needs to be put into service mode and be fully restored of genuine sony firmware. : to do this, you can :
- make a pandora battery, and restore firmware in service mode (contact me for instructions, NOT RECOMMENDED)
- take it to a technitian
