Check for an HDMI port
Check the back of your television for an HDMI port and refer to your owner's manual for your television's resolution. A resolution of 1080p offers the highest quality.
Most PS3 systems support 1.3 HDMI, but older systems may need a software update from the 1.1 or 1.2 version.
Disconnect all the cables and adapters from the back of your PS3, and then unplug your TV to reduce the risk of shock as you work.
Connect HDMI cable
Connect the HDMI cable. Reconnect the power cables on both the TV and the PS3 system.
Hold power button
Hold down the power button until the PS3 beeps and continue holding it for an additional five seconds until the system makes a second beep.
The Playstation 3 should detect the high definition cable and automatically adjust the settings to give you the best picture and sound possible.
Test the connection
Test the connection. If the HDMI cable isn't working, turn everything off and reconnect the original cables to manually change the settings.
Adjust the settings
Turn the system back on, select Settings, Display Settings, Video Output Settings, and then HDMI. Repeat the process for your Audio Settings. You can now experience your games with the highest video and audio quality available.
There maybe some problem with your TVs resolution. ps3 outputs full hd
high resolution video(1080p) through its HDMI. May be your TV is not
supporting that resolution. Connect ps3's component video out to your TV's component video input
and then try. if it ask for any resolution selection. select 720p or
1080i, above that resolution your TV will not support. Your tv is hd ready
one, not full hd. ps3 's HDMI out is full hd (1080p). or try this
Connect your ps3 to any full hd tv and then goto video setup of ps3.
change resolution to 1080i (down scaling ). then connect to your TV via HDMI. surly u will get the video. ok
So I had this same problem. I found that when I hooked to a 1080p TV my PS3 was working, however when I hooked to my 1080i it said Not Supported Mode. So I then hooked to the 1080p and told my PS3 to limit it's self to 1080i mode and hooked it to my Samsung TV and it worked just fine. Give that a try and it should solve the problem. Hope this helps.
TRY ON THE DISPLAY PS3 SETINGS TO NOT LET THE HDMI DO AUTOMATIC,,CHECK OFF A FEW ,,LIKE TRY JUST DION IT CUSTOM,,CHECK 480P,,AND 1080I,,,NOT 720P OR 1080P,,TRY THAT AND IF YOUR TV IS A 1080P,,JUST CHECK THAT,,OR IF ITS A 1080I,,JUST THAT
If there is NO HDMI on the TV, There are 2 options to still get HD.
1. Check if your TV has a DVI input, If it does you need a DVI to HDMI converter.
This can be a problem with some TV models it might not sync up 100%.
2. I recommend doing this, Purchase the Component Cable For the PS3 from Best Buy or any Game store. Make sure it is the ONE for the PS3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This cable will give you up to 1080i resolution and stereo Audio.
Plug in the Red, Green and Blue into the Component (R,G,B) Input in the TV, The Red and White (audio) will follow into the same Input (White and Red) just match the colors from the cable to the TV.
On the PS3 in the Menu go to the 2nd row from the Left and down to DISPLAY SETTINGS.
Select Component (under HDMI) check off everything except 1080p and then SAVE by pressing X.
If you have a Receiver (AMP) that your Audio goes into, Then you can buy an Optical Cable for Surround Sound.
Plug in the Optical cable then on the PS3 go into the menu, 2nd row, Sound Settings, Choose Optical, Then choose Auto and SAVE!
Hope this will Help!
Connect your PS3 through the HDMI 2 port on the TV and as a PC under the tv settings. Then auto setup the tv on the PS3 and it will now see it as 1080P. It will give you some error message whenever the PS3 is first turned on but it will work. Hope this helps everyone.
TV will automatically convert signal to 1080i ; it's all in the tvs chip. There's not much difference really! If your not seeing any image and show no signal in that input;you will have to reset your PS3 and it should work...hope that helps!
For this unit and the addition of the secuity features of Blu-Ray, the 1080i you set can handle is through the component input from a DVD player or an XBOX. In the configuration menu of the PS3, change the resolution to 1080i and see if your set will reset to it. The 1080i on the Blu-Ray is only possible on the HDMI cable as far as I could find, again due to the security restriction. The Mitsu is not going to run it in 720p due to the PS3 is running component and cannot control sync to this set.
