Half of screen is not viewable

For some reason some time ago the bottom half of the screen only has vertical lines. The top half of the screen is perfect. This is a teenagers laptop, but it has not been abused. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Re: Half of screen is not viewable

Well the issue is usally with the Video driver.Try reinstalling it from the and that should resolve the issue. Also you can try connectring a external moniter and see if you get the proper display on that or not.Incase you do than issue is with the screen and incase its the same on that as well than its an issue with the video card. You can get either of the two replaced accordingly.

Screen gone half black...tried with different CPU...same problem persist... Please advise what to do...

The effect is called fold-over, where the bottom of the screen is folded over the top half.

If you can get into the menu set up you can try and change scan settings and adjust them so that :-

1. The screen is moved down so that the bottom of the fold-over is at the bottom of the screen and the top of the windows screen is at the top (it is missing on the photo).

2. Adjust the vertical scan rate to resolve the fold-over problem.

Otherwise it needs fixing by a TV engineer that can fix monitors as the adjustments are inside.

Thin vertical blue ink bleed line from bottom of Malaprop screen - Fades over time

Yes, it's a screen problem. It could be a loose connection of the LCD and the motherboard or the lid lights gone bad. You can fix that by either resetting the connection of the screen and the motherboard or replacing the whole screen. You would need a technician to do that.

Bottom Half of Laptop Screen quickly fades to white!

1. you can replace it with a new screen. (expensive) 2. have a technician to repair the board of the screen, the cable, the IC's, etc. (save you money but the length of repair is very long. maybe it will take a week or two.)
your choice.

I have virtical lines on lap top

Once you start to get vertical lines on your LCD screen, it's usually time for a new screen. I would check first by running an external monitor just to be sure it's not the video card.

Asus x83v screen is black and has vertical lines on half of it.

As the product is under a year old it should be covered under warranty. Get in touch with asus customer services before you let anyone attempt a repair as doing so may invalidate your warranty

Display on my Dell 710M has started having vertical lines on half the screen. everthing else fine. need new display?

Vertical lines on half the screen:
Usually the display ribbon cable or the LCD display. At the shop we find out replacing ribbon cable first.
In some rare occasion it can be the display adapter built on the motherboard. You can test the video adapter connecting the laptop to an external display.
