Question about Pentax K100D Digital Camera
One day, while taking photos with flash, the flash stopped to charge. So I couldn´t take photos with flash any more.
I have set that don´t take the photo until the flash is charged, so the camera keeps waiting until the flash charges.
In the other modes the camera works ok, also if I disable the option to wait until the flash is charged the camera works fine.
Is there any capacitor that holds internally the energy for the flash? If so, can it be replaced easily? I have some electronic skills and want to fix the problem myself, but I am afraid of the dissassembling / assembling issue.
Don't use any old flash unit on the camera! You can really mess up the camera and kill it if you use an old flash unit! NOTE: Older flash units may allow high voltage to go back through the hotshoe connection, which can fry your new Digital SLR (Pentax + all others!)
Then again, I knew about this and didn't hook-up my old Vivitar flash to my new K100D & I still had problems with my 1st K100D!!!

Sounds like there is a lot of problems with the flash on the K100D. When I got my 1st K100D, I had it one week when the flash blew itself out. I mean, I took a picture and the thing went really, really bright and sounded like it was going to explode and I smelt something burning camera out of the camera.
It was New Years Eve and luckily a friend was there and let me use his camera, since he doesn't take that many pictures.
I took the camera back to where I bought it from and when we tried the camera and the same thing happened.
He exchanged it on the spot (because I only had it a week.)
Haven't had a problem with it since (knock on wood)!
Take care & Happing Imaging!

R.e. my post earlier today:
I called Pentax; they said send in camera for warranty repair.
I guess I got a bad one.

My camera with the dodgy flash is holidaying in Japan as they sent it to be fixed - not sure how old your camera is but I am trying to see if this is an issue that occurs with the camera model.... given that there are only two of us to date I am thinking that we may have just struck the jackpot :(
