I have a Maxell MC-60UR mini-cassette tap...

I have a Maxell MC-60UR mini-cassette (also called micro-cassette) (dimensions: almost 2 inches long and 1.25 inches high by .25 inches thick) tape which I have been transcribing. I got allthe way through Side A and Fast Forwarded it to the end to arrive at the begining of Side B. But, the tape broke, right at the spool and the end of the tape. There doe not seem to be anything but a slight 64th of an inch attached to the empty spool and the other side is full. I can see the cut end of the tape inside the case.

We have tried opening the case - worked easily on an older mini-cassette but this one is new and won't budge.
I believe all I would have to do it wind the broken part of the tape around the spool and be good to go if only I could rely on getting into and back out f the cassette without mishap.
This is the kind of cassette with the two cylindrical white posts in the two corners. I have no way of off-loading the tape but think I can get someone to copy it so I can then transcribe Side B. Unfortunately my Olympus Pearlcorder, like any transcribing machine, starts and stops and rewinds these cassettes and stresses them to the max. Especially this one as the first interviewee was a fast talker who garbled her words and I had to rewind much more than I usually do so I'm sure I stressed this tape out. It looks to be very new and only used once - so it could be a bad tape but that's not going to make my client feel any better about her trashed interview. Help anyone? Desperate!
