Question about Lexmark OfficeCenter X3350 All-in-One Printer

1 Answer

Need to know how to send fax's.

I'm very new at this, and I want my Lexmark X3350 to send fax's. I have DSL, do I still need a telephone connection to send/recieve fax's? Do I have to buy a phone package or anything? I tried calling my local telephone company, but they knew less than I did. The option for "send a fax" is greyed out, and I get an error message saying the fax can't find/talk to the modem. I'm completely confused.

Your particular Lexmark X3350 does not have a fax modem. You have a couple different options though, however I am not sure if the option in the software you are using will be ungreyed, but you will be able to send faxes.

One option is to purchase a modem at a computer store (usually they are around $15) and install it. If you want to take this route then I would first check to see if your computer has room for one or sometimes I have found people already have one, and its just not installed. If you would like to take this route, respond and I will make detailed instructions on how to install for you.

Another option is to pay for a service to send & receive faxes for you. This is common, because as technology continiously increases everything is becoming more and more digital and people are shifting away from using real paper all of the time. For instance I built a service for a company a few years ago where they could fax whatever papers they wanted by sending an email to my program with the telephone number as the subject of the email and whatever they wanted to fax as an attachment. If you are interested in this alternative let me know, and I will suggest some third party services for you.

Does Your DSL filter work for any analog modem attempting to send a fax (via fax software) using a DSL phone line?

Hello, Thanks for allowing me to help.

Sending a FAx over a telephone using adsl can be tricky, using a filter will help but you might want to make sure your baud rates are low, TRY 9600 baud, if you get any higher then that your filter might not filter it out and thus confusing the adsl connection.

I know mine works fine, make sure your fax is plugged into the TELEPHONE side of the filter!

I use 9600kbps , I do not recommend going any higher then that.

If that does not work you going to need to try another filter, last but not least call the telephone company if you are loosing connection.

Thanks for the questions, I hope my answer was Very Helpful.

Wont send a fax or recieve one

It could be your telephone line.

If you are running DSL in your home, then you will need a digital filter inline to allow the send and receive fax features to work properly. These are very cheap and easy to put in place.

I lost install disk for my x3350 I need to send and receive a fax how do I fax? Do I need the set up disk where can I buy a replacement disk

Dear customer,
We recommend u to download the installtionn driver form any of the following links and then run ur fax..

or else  go to Lexmark's web-site and either download the specific software for your printer. This is equivalent to the disk and will take awhile.First, call lexmarks 800 number for tech support and they can talk you through it...Lastly, you can wait for new disk to be shipped and have printer connected with best but limited drivers in meantime. however downloading the driver would be a much simpler option.
Plz rate this solution.. thank u..

I know that my DSL filter is plugged in to my telephone socket, it has about a 6 inch lead from the phone socket to the filter so it should be quite close to the socket.

Hope that helps.

Lexmark x6150 unalbe to fax phone line is active using dsl

Hey Tony - Did you recently hook this up to the DSL for the first time? This unit is supposedly not able to work with a DSL line.

The fax modem in your AIO is an analog device and cannot be used on an ISDN, DSL, or PBX digital phone service. However, you can connect certain devices to your AIO that let you use the fax function in addition to these digital phone services.

To connect without an unsupported line:
Connect an active telephone cable from the AIO to the telephone wall jack.

To connect with an unsupported line:
If you use an ISDN phone service, you can connect to an analog telephone port (an R-interface port) on an ISDN terminal adapter.
For more help and to request an R-interface port, contact the ISDN provider.
If you use a DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) phone service, you can connect to a DSL filter or router that will allow for some analog (rather than digital) use.
If you use a PBX phone service, you can install an analog phone line for a fax machine.

If this was working on the DSL let me know. I don't know the location but obviously a separate phone jack is the easiest. Let me know. If this helps you fix it you can rate this as fixed. If you are just going to rate this as helpful I'd rather you please not rate it and just add a comment and say thanks for the info.
If you need more help just add a comment and I'll be glad to assist you further. Thanks.

jon, I am assuming you have DSL modem. Sending a fax by DSL requires one of two methods: 1. You obtain a DSL line filter suitable for connecting a standard voice telephone to the DSL line, then connect an analog fax modem to the line through the line filter. Good Luck, Tim
