M-Audio FireWire 410 External Distorted Playback...

Hi,

I own a M-Audio Firewire 410. Its a couple of weeks old.

Yesterday, when I connected the soundcard to my PC (XP sp2 ) the playback was distorted. The sound distorts when its playing through my workstation (Nuendo) or any other media players (Winamp, iTunes etc..) This problem has never occurred before.

I also connected it to my laptop (Vista 32-bit)which has the updated drivers for the 410 soundcard. It gives the same problem.

The playback through all the outputs are distorted...

Please help me out!

Regards,

Quintane

My firewire is playing back ok. I found my problem is coming from the input not the playback. Haven't solve it yet.

    1. Play CD through your computer hard drive.

    2. When you record a sound expand your cilp and see if abnormal patterns exsist.

    3. record your intrument through your computer's soundcard.

this is a good and bad sound card. good because i almost recorded a small album with it(before it started to do this), and bad because m-audio seems like they don't care about how their equipment works, once they have sold it to consumers.
Same thing happening, using my lap-top- Vista Home with 2.10 Ghz dual core Amd turion x2. 3GB RAM Stupid loud distortion kicks in after about 30 seconds of recording o playback. I've tried almost everything and it's just not working for me. tried changing the buffer size, disabled monitoring, My last guess is that this is happening because i'm using a separate power supply instead of the 6-pin firewire power supply. Before this i used a vista desktop with 6-pin powered 1349 port and it worked fine, but since i needed to go mobile i have to bring the power adapter with me. Any of you think this could be the problem?

Buzzing cpu noise coming through the speakers which is a nuisance when trying to mix and could be used as a torture method.

Shall try latency and see how that goes.

Hello have you disabled all the built on sound cards on your computers? This is a known problem. If you are going to use a great product like M-audio disable any onboard audio card. Then try to use the 410 system. If you still have the problem try changing the latency to 4-5

You might need to Increase the Latency In the FirePod Control panel to a higher/greater value. Try 25.0 ms first just to see if this solution works for you. Then go down from there until you find the line between clean and distortion.

There might be some noise disturbance near the mic, or audio recording device, check if the noise filter is enabled for line in and mic in the multimedia properties or sound properties, you have this option. try it out.

Why sound suddenly corrupted in win or DAW.

That sounds like a buffer issue.

Have you tried adjusting the buffers in your recording software?

Also virus scanners are known to hog resources and cause garbled audio. Maybe try disabling your virus scanner?

Good luck..

My (M-AUDIO FW 410)drivers had suddenly got kicked off. (i honestly don't know what had happend to my drivers) So i went on line to get the latest drivers for my (MAC BOOK PRO/10.4.11).... It didn't work....

Unfortunately, you may have to upgrade. Depending how old your system is typically you need to upgrade every 3 to 4 years. You might upgrade your RAM. When you turn on your computer wait at least 5 minutes for all your drivers to load. If you open up an application before they load it may cause a conflict and not load all drivers. Make sure your not connected to the Internet. When your connected to the Internet all your programs that are not set up to not look for updates will. You wont even know that their doing this until it's to late. This is what I would do. Go to your system restore and restore to a point that you knew it was working. When you look at your restore options it will give you a list by day what was added. Just look at these day's and try and remember what you installed before this started happening. You're having a conflicting problem. Now we need to find out where. Feel free to contact me with any other questions. Hope this helps.

M-audio firewire 410 on macbook

Use a 'Y' splitter. Usually from balanced to unbalanced. Also try looking at your device's control panel and see if you can change the channel options from mono to stereo. Beta drivers are for testing purposes, so try the signed driver also.

Firewire audio problem

Are you using the 410 for recording or as a playback consumer soundcard? Is it connected to external speakers and if so, what type?

Keeps blinking

It means its waiting for your computers operating system to recognize it. UNplug it. Update your operating system to the latest version ( free ), and then go to www.m-audio.com and download the latest drivers.

Do not ever install drivers for a device while its connected.
Plus it would help to know whatt kind of computer and what your operating systems is.

You should install service pack 2, the go to the m-audio site and upgrade the drivers again. Also, since your computer most likely have a 4 pin firewire, make sure you have the power cqble for the 410 connected. Ofcourse, do not have the 410 connected when upgrade either sp2 or the drivers. make sure you power cycle both devices before reconnecting and attempting to record....
