Re: tappan oven won't turn on after cleaning
I don't precisely understand...responding. I assume that if you say oven on that the oven isn't heating but the indicator controls are working. This has several possibilities. First, do turn your circuit breakers off then on...there are two linked together. This may reset something. If that fails, your problems are likely in either the high limit safety switch or the heating elements. The elements are more likely. To check them, turn off the power and remove them from the oven. This is usually by taking out one screw and unclipping the element. See if the element is bulged or damaged. If not, use a multitester to see if one of them is not conducting. Replace it. High limit should conduct fully. Use the curcuit diagram on the stove to determine its location.

The model is GGE350LWS00; the self-clean cycle selection is a bit different for this Whirlpool double oven range. Make sure that the oven isn't above 400F before starting the self-clean cycle. Close both oven doors. Press Precise Clean for the appropriate oven; only one oven can be cleaned at a time. For the upper oven, the button is next to the Toast button. The lower oven's Precise Clean is directly below the one for the upper oven. (If the oven doors are open, you will see Door. If the doors are not closed within thirty seconds, the Self-clean will be canceled.) Then press Presets (to the right of the zero button in the number pad) to select the type/ length of the cleaning cycle. You only need to press this once if the default Medium cleaning cycle is appropriate. Press Presets additional times if you need to cycle through to the Heavy or Light cleaning options. The cleaning cycle should start 4 seconds after you last press Presets. If the door locks do not properly engage, the self-clean cycle will be canceled. If the lock mechanism is broken or not getting the message from the control board, you may need check the lock, the wiring or control board to determine the source of the issue. Move the safety lock/lever at the top of the oven door to the right and press the self clean button on the oven control panel, it is an automatic cycle so it will lock the door from opening and then will proceed with the auto clean cycle. Good luck !
Unplug the stove. plug back in and program a short clean cycle. If this does not fix it is eithe the selector switch or the electronic control. Verifying the switch contacts with a meter is the only way to be sure. Eric
Depending on the condition of the oven, it could take up to 4 hours.
I ran the auto self clean on my oven last week for the first time and it set automatically for 3 1/2 hours. (It stunk, but it worked.)
A couple things to remember is: (1) Make sure you do not turn the light on inside the oven. The clean cycle should disable it. (2) Lock the door if it does not lock itself. (3) Do not open the door during the clean cycle.
Remember the self cleaning temperature is extremely high. Do not allow children in the area while doing it.
it hapen to me i activated the self cleaning gently hit the top of door and turn the self cleaner off the latch came off was able to use the oven did not used cleaner again clean it manuelly did not whant to spend the money
I have a Tappan double oven range. An older model #316065301
How do I operate the cleaning cycle? I set the start and stop times, Locked the door and switched to clean. The clean light comes on but it doesn't heat up much at all. Never locks. I have misplaced my instructions manual.
