I recently replaced my thermostat to digital and the air conditioner works great but the heat doesnt seem to get hot enough like it is blowing out room temperature air. when i replaced the thermostat there was an extra wire (orange) that didnt have a terminal to go to. I'm not sure if someone forgot to hook it up or if thats the problem with my heat?
Sounds like you got the wrong thermostat.
The orange wire is for the reversing valve, which reverses the flow of refridgerant and changes the system from cooling mode, to heat mode.
If your thermostat has no terminal for the orange wire, (usually labled "O") then you have a thermostat that is not compatible with heat pumps.
