Question about Microwave Ovens
After many years of loyal service (built in 1990) my Sharp Carousel II microwave/convection oven became dark, no power, this did not happen while in use, it happened between uses. Is not the plug or the outlet. Any suggestions as to what it could be?
In microwaves if the fuse blows regularly it is time to replace the capacitor (the huge silver flattened cylinder strapped on the inside back)

Check the internal fuse. Unplug it, unscrew and take off the cover, the fuse should be easily found in the back by the power cord. I tlooks like a regular fuse but is white instead of clear glass because microwave fuses are special. You'll have to measure it with a meter as a result and be sure to replace it with the same kind. (try finding them at radio shack) Hopefully there isn't something more serious also.
