The backround is really dark this started about 10 days ago. i removed the back panels of the tv & checked all the bulbs-red,green & blue, they all looked like they are working. when i'm watching a show on tv that has a night time scene it's hard to see whats going on, but if it's in a room scene or a daytime scene the backround is dark.

Hi: You may have a problem with the inverters in the unit, they are responsible for lighting up the back panel. Check or have checked the power supply voltage to the inverters, should be around 18-24 volts DC. Also leaky capacitors on the power supply will cause this issue as well as leaky or puffy capacitors on the inverter.
Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.
I suspect you're asking about the projection tubes. They don't all go out at the same time, there is some other problem. Also consider, you can almost buy a new TV for the cost of the tubes. I really expect you'll find the right answer in your owners manual. Look into the advanced settings.

I'm not sure if my answer will help much, but it is free. My experieence with this site is that without paying for premium service, you won't get much help.
I had a similar problem with a different model Panasonic projection set.I got no answer on this site, but I did from an outside repairman.
Turn your color all the way down. If it looks black and white it is probably not a bulb problem. If you see a tint (blue, green, red) over the screen, it probably is a weak bulb.
The entire bottom front of my model was held on by velco and could be pulled off.
Behind this was a removable black panel. Behind this were adjustment screws for the three bulbs. This will probably only help temporarily if the bulbs continue to weaken, but it might buy you some time as the replacement bulbs are quite expensive. Good Luck
try adjusting the green screen control. remove the front bottom panel of the tv by removing any screws holding it in place. gently pull of the front panel, there are gromets holding it in place, you will be able to gently remove the front, just make sure you get all those screws. now reove the small wodden or plastioc panel. now you will see the screen/focus assy. check to see of the screen controls are the top 3 or bottom 3. adjusted the center screen it's the green one, the other 2 are the red & blue. it is best to adjust in a dark room where the lines will show up easier. good luck
