Question about 2wire Wireless-G 802.11g ADSL Gateway
It's a 1701HG Gateway (2WIRE) being used with a Compaq persario R3000 running XP. I can get it to "connect" saying its at 100% with the 2WIRE manager application but I cannot connect IE or Foxfire. It continues to say obtaining IP address and windows cannot troubleshoot because it managed by 2WIRE. I have pinged and recieved an ok and I have tried to assign a static ip and still no internet connection.

What is the make and model of your router?
What type of internet access do you have (DSL or cable)?
Are you connecting the computer with a cable or via wireless?
If you have verified that the cable connections are correct then I would try to power cycle next.
1. Unplug the modem, router and turn off the computer.
2. Plug the modem in and wait 5 minutes.
3. Plug the router back in.
4. Turn the computer back on.
Let me know the details for the above questions if we need to go further.
